New CB Waterfalls Badge

Hike Nova Scotia and Destination Cape Breton are happy to announce the launch of the new Cape Breton Waterfalls Badge as part of Hike NS’s Hiker Challenge and Cape Breton Island’s Waterfall Season promotion. The new Cape Breton Waterfalls Badge challenges you to visit at least 6 of a list of pre-selected waterfalls over the course of a year. The first 50 people to earn badges get them for free. Each season there is a prize draw for gift cards, generously provided by The Trail Shop.

Mosquito Study - Call for Volunteers

Did you know that there are over 20 species of mosquitoes in Nova Scotia? Using traces of DNA in the environment, researchers can target and identify which mosquito larvae are present in a body of water, such as ponds, roadside ditches, and tires. This summer the Acadia Mosquito Team is looking for volunteers to help them collect water samples from across the province to help catalogue where these species live. Interested in helping out? Email them at [email protected].
