The Williston Area Chamber of Commerce will host its annual awards banquet tonight at McCody Concrete. The fundraiser will include a silent auction, dinner, Midwest Dueling Pianos and an awards ceremony. WED's Shawn Wenko and WFD's Jason Catrambone are among the nominees! We hope to see you there!

Williston Econcomic Development - The City of Williston, Cardon Global and The Creative Treatment have released five new videos featuring progress on the new Williston Basin International Airport. The five videos are accessible on the WED Facebook and YouTube pages. The new airport is expected to open October 10, 2019. A grand opening event will be held earlier for the general public.  

Medical Marijuana Dispensary to open Soon in Williston

KUMV-TV - It's been more than two years since North Dakota voted to legalize medical marijuana and now Williston is a couple months away from seeing its implementation. Last week, city commission members voted unanimously to approve the application submitted by the company Harvest to begin setting up shop. The new Harvest of Williston facility will be located in the strip mall on 26th St. E, next to Smiling Moose Deli and Glow. Read More

Williston School District schedules Bond Referendum April 9; seeks Other Solutions to Overcrowding

Williston Herald - On Monday, Williston Public School District No. 1 school board members were hopeful that the bond referenudum would pass on April 9, but they also discussed another way to help curb enrollment growth - excluding students from Williams County Public School District No. 8 from the high school if the school is over capacity. District 8 is a K-8 district, and by state law, surrounding districts must allow District 8 students to attend high school in their district. Read More

Family Dollar Store opens in Parshall

The new Family Dollar Store is opening in Parshall this week.
Mountrail County Record - The Family Dollar Store in Parshall is celebrating its grand opening Thursday, Jan. 17, through Saturday, Jan. 19. The grand opening will include giveaways and prizes, including reusable shopping bags, cookies and a gift basket raffle. In addition, on Saturday, the first 50 customers will receive a Family Dollar gift card. Read More

Verizon to purchase Mid-Rivers' Cellular Network

Sidney Herald - Mid-Rivers Communications has agreed to sell its cellular network assets to Verizon.  Included in the deal are the Mid-Rivers mobile wireless sites in areas where Verizon does not currently have coverage. Mid-Rivers' retail cellular operations will end when the cellular network is turned over to Verizon sometime later this year. Read More
Best takes over for Veeder as Watford City Community Development Director
Gene Veeder, a longtime economic developer in Watford City, is stepping down from his position.
McKenzie County Farmer - There is a new face behind the Watford City Community Development Director desk as Vawnita Best began work last week. She will be taking over the role at City Hall full-time as Gene Veeder, who has been working for the city part-time in the same capacity for the last several years, steps down.  Curt Moen, Watford City administrator, said that the community development director position was expanded to a full-time capacity because of the rapid growth of the city. PBS Travel Show to feature Watford City Jan. 30
McKenzie County  Tourism and the  Watford City  Chamber of Commerce will be hosting two viewing parties on January 29 at 5 p.m. and on January 30 at 12 noon at Six Shooters Showhall.

All Fur Love Fundraiser Feb. 2 in Williston

News Release - Reserve your tickets today for the Mondak Animal Rescue's annual All Fur Love dinner, silent and live auction. The fundraiser is set for Feb. 2 at 5:30 p.m. at the Grand Williston Hotel. VIP tables are $600 while tickets are $50 per person. Call 701-577-7387 for more information.

The 34th annual show will feature campers, boats, ATVs, hunting and fishing guides, outdoor equipment, cooking equipment and a Kid Zone at the Raymond Family Community Center.

Get the team together for the 38th annual  API Chili Cook-Off  at the Grand Williston Hotel! Doors open at 3 p.m. Slamabama plays at 4 p.m. Must be 21 years old to attend. Admission is $10.

07/16-17 ------ Bakken Conference & Expo
The expo is billed as a premier North Dakota Oil Shale event. The two-day show will be held in Bismarck, ND.
