Williston Public Works celebrates Ribbon Cutting and Open House
A ribbon cutting was held for the new $30 million, 96,000 square foot facility which now houses the City of Williston Public Works and Engineering departments.
Williston Herald - The new Williston Public Works facility had it's grand unveiling Wednesday, Nov. 6, as the city held the building's official ribbon cutting ceremony for the public. A large crowd filled the Larry Hanson Lunchroom, one of six rooms named after current and former Williston mayors, as Mayor Howard Klug and guests showed off the new facility. Read More
GNDC CEO Roundtable meets in Williston:  Oil Patch to play Key Role in Unmanned Aviation
The GNDC CEO Roundtable topic was transportation innovation. The forum included presentations on electric vehicles, autonomous vehicles, traditional aviation, and the state's relatively recent Load Pass system. 
Williston Herald - North Dakota is leading the way on solutions for unmanned aviation, and the Oil Patch is going to play a key role in the effort. North Dakota has already placed its first beyond visual line of sight radar in the Red River Valley. But the second one is coming to the Oil Patch, according to Tommy Kenville, CEO of ISight RPV. Kenville was in Williston on Wednesday, Nov. 6, for the CEO Roundtable, put on by the North Dakota Chamber of Commerce. Read More
Oil Boom leads to New Airport in Williston
The Williston Basin International Airport celebrated its grand opening on October 10, 2019. - Booming. Surging. Growing. Like oil production in the Bakken formation, that's what is happening to communities in the northwest corner of North Dakota. In fact, a brand new $275 million airport, Williston Basin International (XWA), opened in October to keep up with the unprecedented economic expansion. The new airfield and terminal are located in Williston, a rapidly growing community 60 miles from the Canadian border and 18 miles from the Montana border. Read More

Dickinson Press - Business is booming in North Dakota. A decade of high-octane oil production and the prosperity that came with it has helped position the Peace Garden State ahead of the pack in several economic categories and earned it a reputation as a haven for entrepreneurship. North Dakota Job Market remains Strong
Minot Daily News - There's still plenty of jobs in oil country, and many of those jobs pay well. However, the high cost of living is a barrier to recruiting, according to Job Service North Dakota representatives who spoke at the Western Dakota Energy Association meeting in Minot Oct. 31.  Paula Hickel, manager of the Williston workforce center in the Northwest North Dakota Region, presented data from September that showed a demand for workers in Divide, Williams and McKenzie counties, particularly in transportation-related jobs. Read More
North Dakota Governor urges Maintaining Hours at Ports of Entry 
As U.S. Customs and Border Protection is holding town hall meetings to discuss reducing its hours of operation at Antler, Carbury and Maida, Gov. Doug Burgum released a statement on Wednesday, urging the federal agency to maintain its schedule at the three North Dakota ports of entry.  "We are committed to maintaining the vital and convenient access between North Dakota and our neighbor and important economic partner, Manitoba," Burgum said. Read More
WSC releases Spring Schedules
News Release - In preparation for the upcoming spring semester, Williston State College has released its Spring and Summer 2020 course schedules today Monday, November 4. This marks the third year in a row that the spring and summer schedules have been released together. "Releasing the spring and summer schedules together was a change made to better serve our students," explained Kim Wray, Vice President for Academic Affairs. Read More
