Toward our Goal of $3.2+ Million

With your generous contributions, every day we get closer to our goal of $3.2+ million. Thank you all for showing your love for this special place and ensuring our mission for generations to come.

LODGE RENOVATION UPDATES:

New Windows and more!

The unique location of our beloved lodge and its beautiful blue valley view has made our east and north facing sides vulnerable to all kinds of inclement weather. Significant damage caused by water intrusion made it essential to replace these windows to keep our lodge meeting spaces properly sealed.

Beto and his crew have installed windows in the Library Kitchen and Great Room.

Your generous pledges & contributions have made the difference in completing this essential work.

The crew is clipping along nicely! Beto explains that, in addition to the new windows on the second floor, the siding on the north and east sides of the building will be finished this week.

We're delighted that this work will be completed by mid-December!

All the while, the crew is hard at work staining the new hand railing on the valley view side. We are so grateful for this wonderful crew of workers! They have taken the utmost care updating our beloved spaces all while maintaining efficiency and great smiles.

HOW YOUR PLEDGES AND CONTRIBUTIONS TODAY

• Every dollar you pledge or contribute from now through 2026 goes right into funding these projects which have been deemed essential by our Mountain community.

Power for Ring Road!

Electrical Upgrades are Coming to The Mountain

Funded by a combination of our Capital Campaign and Southface Grant, the completion of electrical upgrades around ring road will allow us to install new energy efficient electric water heaters for the cabins, reducing our carbon footprint!

This project will also make it much easier to supply ring road with WiFi. We look forward to you returning soon to enjoy these updated features and be nurtured by the wonderful environment here on The Mountain.

This is all made possible by your pledges & contributions to our Capital Campaign.

National Giving Tuesday is December 3rd 2024! Please consider joining this effort by contributing to The Mountain Capital Campaign.

A Message From A Mountain Supporter Rev. Claudia Jiménez

My first visit to The Mountain was in 2002 for Leadership School for Religious Educators. I traveled from Florida to be with colleagues, deepen my understanding of faith formation in our tradition and strengthen my leadership skills. It was a memorable week in the mountains learning and spending time in nature. My next visit was in 2018. I started working at UU Asheville after graduating from seminary and attended the annual congregational retreat at The Mountain. Since then, I’ve attended regularly. I appreciate the opportunity to participate in an intergenerational community, learning together, playing together, worshipping together and enjoying the beauty of Little Scaly Mountain.

Our congregational retreat was cancelled this year because of Hurricane Helene. However, I was pleased to attend the Southeast UU Ministers retreat last week. It was healing and joyful to be with colleagues and to share their wisdom and personal stories post-Helene and post-election. Waking up each morning to watch the sunrise was a soulful start to each day! I stayed in the Lodge.

I was delighted to see the new porch on both floors, new staff housing and the renovations to the meeting space and office in the tower. Wow! Glad to see The Mountain thriving and providing programming and services to the UU community and beyond. Our youth enjoy attending the youth cons and some of our members attend other programs hosted by The Mountain. I feel lucky to be so close to this beautiful, sacred, engaging space, and look forward to my next visit. A special thank you to the staff who welcomed us and the kitchen staff who prepared delicious meals.

May the generosity of those who appreciate what The Mountain has to offer continue to sustain it. It is indeed a special place of healing, beauty and community.
