The Story Behind The Bright Side
My otherwise-healthy daughter has a stomach condition that has resulted in several hospital stays over the past few years. We have all learned to be flexible and adapt as needed. School and work can be made up later, her health comes first. My husband and I take turns staying with her and sometimes we are there for days at a time with nothing much to do but read, watch TV, or stare out the window. It is amazing just how exhausting it can be doing nothing. During this particular episode she was in the hospital for four nights, sent home for one, and then admitted again for two more. We were worn out. It was very difficult to see the bright side. That is, until the morning of the final day of her stay when we woke up early to the most incredible sunrise. It was a sunrise that we would have missed had we been at home and busy going about our lives. It was literally the bright side of a very difficult week.
