Dear Reader,
People often ask me, what made you write this novel?—surprised that I would take on the subject of the Holocaust. Toni Morrison said, “If there’s a book you want to read, but it hasn’t been written yet, then you must write it.” MY REAL NAME IS HANNA is a book I want to read, a book I would want my children, and other children, to read. The topic is difficult. But given the times we’re in, the novel’s history and what it can teach the next generation is imperative. And I’ve been told by their parents that it’s inspiring and offers hope.
So
my
hope is that you will take a chance on HANNA, and by doing so, honor those who lost their lives by reading their stories, and honor those who survived and those who risked their lives to help others live. Story, after all, binds us together.

Dear Reader,
We've actually been developing the story of WHAT IF IT'S US since early 2014. We had the idea for it before we ever met in person. We'd been emailing back and forth for a few weeks, and at that point, we were exchanging some of our favorite past embarrassing moments. One of Becky's had to do with a Craigslist Missed Connection ad she'd placed in her early twenties, for a cute guy she made eye contact with at a coffee shop. She never found the coffee shop guy, but Adam saw a YA book concept in the missed connection and the book was born.
We hope you like it!
