Evidence of God’s Goodness
Not every memory from 2020 is warm and fuzzy, but God’s goodness and activity at Ruth Harbor Ministries is certainly worth sharing. We are grateful to God and individuals like you who made quality care possible for more than 19 new moms and babies.

In particular, two important things stand out when looking briefly into the RHM “rearview mirror” at 2020 that helped those we serve:
Increased effectiveness in support for residents

Greater engagement – more staff hours dedicated to relationships and support.

Learning from tracking progress – our residents and support staff review and set goals in 10 key areas every couple weeks.

Increased staff training – especially in areas of Trauma Informed Care and Trust-Based relationships.

Growing experience – beyond training, service years by staff build effectiveness for adapting, adjusting, and pivoting to individualize and customize care for each resident

Financial provision
Through individuals and organizations who sacrificially “stepped up,” God has provided the finances needed to operate RHM! Even in a pandemic year, contributions exceeded the previous year and our budgeted needs by 6%!

Thank You For Your Christmas Blessings!
The outpouring of love from our amazing supporters participating in this year's Adopt-A-Resident Program was exceptional. Stacy, our Program Director, delivered her sleigh full of gifts to residents the week of Christmas. "It was touching to see the joy and delight on their faces when I pulled up," said Stacy. "We couldn't have blessed them without the help of so many generous donations."

This year's gifts provided a "full circle" moment as well. One of our own Ruth Harbor alumna, Molly, adopted both a mom and baby this year as part of the program. When she delivered her gifts, Molly mentioned that she and her husband Brandon had been praying for a giving opportunity and felt compelled to participate. What an amazing tribute to God's generosity and hope!

Join Our Team In 2021!

To continue meeting the needs of our residents, Ruth Harbor Ministries is currently hiring for multiple positions, including a Life Coach/Caseworker and House Parent Assistant.

A Life Coach/Caseworker will work part-time to assist in developing Care Plans for each resident to encourage growth and progress. This is an important role in directly supporting clients through this ministry.

A part-time House Parent Assistant for our Des Moines home would support clients with everyday activity when the lead house parents are off-duty (Fridays and Saturdays).

Recent Births...And Rebirths

We celebrated the births of TWO babies at Ruth Harbor in December! Both moms and babies are healthy and doing well. We ask that you pray for the health and well-being of the birth mothers, babies, and their entire families, and join us in lifting-up praises that two young moms chose LIFE for her unborn children!
We also lift-up praises that two of our residents committed their lives to Christ late last year. It's always a blessing to be a part of this life-changing, life-giving ministry, but anytime we witness births and rebirths, it makes our work all the more fulfilling!
