A new year brings new things - Brad Bowie, President

Happy New Year! We are so excited to announce some major changes in our program. We have been a 6-month program for over 25 years, but as of January 1 of this year, we are now a 12-month program. Clients will live on campus the first 9 months. The last 3 months, they will finish the program as outpatients, maintaining their recovery in their home environment. During the outpatient phase, clients will meet regularly with our treatment staff for relapse prevention groups, and they be required to attend 2 recovery support meetings per week. The program has also been broken down into 5 phases. The new phase chart is shown below.

Every year, we follow-up with all Safe Harbor graduates to see how they are doing and what issues they have encountered. We use this information to evaluate and revise our program model to better prepare our clients for reentering their home environments. It has become obvious over the past years that clients need more time in a structured environment to be successful in long-term recovery. Our data has found the 3 main obstacles clients face are: finding safe affordable housing, obtaining their driver’s license, and finding ongoing support for their recovery. The changes in our program will help them answer these issues.

Please continue to pray for our clients. We believe with a foundation in Christ and being equipped with the right tools, they will be successful in their recovery. They will also set the course for their children to not walk in the same footsteps as they have, because they will become the fathers, mothers, and leaders God created them to be.

Thank you for your continued support and prayers. We could not do this without you!

Together We Can Make A Difference!!

Letter from the Director - Paul Garner

Greetings,

I hope this letter finds you in good health, high spirits and warmth! Once again, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to Houston County and its residents for your kindness and generosity. Your donations this past Christmas made an enormous impact on our men. For many of them it had been years since they had received a gift. Because of everyone’s generosity every man on property received a pair of shoes, hygiene pack, scarf, gloves, homemade baked goods, and a Christmas stocking filled to the brim! With private donations from the local community, we were able to purchase new gym equipment, professional corn hole boards, and various games for the property.

On top of all the gifts, the most heartfelt was the outside families and organizations that came in and provided Christmas meals and holiday treats to the guys. The community of Houston County and surrounding areas help fill Safe Harbor of Erin with an extra special Christmas Spirit this year!

Thank you for helping us help others!

With sincere appreciation,

Paul Garner

Celebrating Success

We celebrated the graduation of 22 clients in the 4th Quarter here in Erin. Their graduation marks an important milestone in their life. While it signifies the end of their journey here at Safe Harbor, it is a beginning of a new chapter. The journey to graduation may not have always been easy. It required hard work, perseverance, & determination. Through it all they developed character and resilience.

It was an honor to be able to be beside these men as they navigated through their journey here. We are excited to see them going home being the men that God intended them to be!

Know God. Find Freedom. Discover Purpose. Make A Difference.

Partner of the Quarter - Magnum Manufacturing

We are excited to announce Magnum Manufacturing for the Partner of the Quarter. The people at Magnum are like family to the clients and

staff at Safe Harbor. They not only provide a place to work for the

clients, but they build relationships with the clients and help them on their journey after they graduate.

Magnum Manufacturing is a great company and has supported Safe Harbor and all they do.

Baptisms

During the 4th Quarter 26 men were baptized in Erin. Their baptisms signify a new beginning and a fresh start, a chance to leave behind old ways and embrace God's plan for their lives.

May God bless them all!

Client of the Quarter

"For the last 12 years I have hustled everything from cars, food, and drugs to survive. After not being able to keep a job I became a full time drug dealer and started getting high on my own supply. After starting to shoot the drugs I was selling I started a downward spiral into heavy crime, hurting people and the ultimate destruction of myself. In those 12 years I was incarcerated 5 of them. Since coming to Safe Harbor I have learned to care for myself and those around me. This has been such a life changing experience I'm think of working in the recovery field myself."

What is Community?

Community is defined as "a feeling of fellowship with others, as a result of sharing common attitudes, interests, and goals."

We are proud of the community we are building, and thankful for the community that is embracing us. Without community support we would not be able to do what we do.

We had the pleasure of having a former client who is going on three years graduated from Safe Harbor Erin bringing us the message Sunday night from the “Garden Church”. He is now married, just had a child, and is still working with the same corporate partner. We are so proud of him!

Thank you to Mayor Brake and his family for the wonderful Thanksgiving meal for our clients.

Staff of the Quarter - Jeffrey McManis

Mr. McManis has been chosen as our Staff of the Quarter for his selfless service to the clients here at Safe Harbor Erin. Every client that receives his service is left with a lasting impression that he cares. He commits his personal time and resource towards making sure the clients are taken care of from the time they come in the door. His day is also spent on the phone for hours communicating with concerned family members and court officials. He is a multitasker and a passionate employee who does his assigned task with quality and care. Safe Harbor of Erin is blessed to have such a peer and employee, and he is a joy to work and laugh with.

Congratulations to Jeff McManis!
