New Year, New Financial Goals

Financial independence and financial freedom are supported by a foundation created by your mindset and habits. We envision a pyramid pathway that ensures you have support as you work toward achieving your financial goals.

Mindset & Habits to Help You Accomplish Your Financial Goals:

  • Gratitude Journaling — Keep a list of things that you’re thankful for, even simple, seemingly insignificant things.

  • Money Affirmations — Create a money affirmation that places you in your success. For example, “I am young, powerful, and successful, earning at least $10k a month” (Suze Orman).

  • Visualize Financial Success — Often reflect on your financial success. What will your life be like when you have financial freedom and are financially independent?

  • Track Your Spending — Monitor your expenses and how you’re spending your money. If you don’t have a budget, create one to track your progress.

  • Practice Delayed Gratification — Get into the habit of pausing before your purchase. If you can avoid impulse purchases that provide immediate gratification, you can more easily identify what you truly want and need.

Up to and including this date, you can make prior year, 2023 IRA, Roth IRA or SEP IRA contributions.

Updates to tax planning for 2024:

  • 401(k), 403(b), Deferred Comp, and Thrift Savings Plan Contribution Limits increased to $23,000 for those under 50 years old. Participants age 50 or over can contribute an additional $7,500 catch-up contribution.

  • Traditional IRA and Roth IRA Contribution limits increased to $7,000 for those under age 50, and $8,000 for those age 50 or older.

  • The SEP IRA Contribution Limit is the lesser of 25% (of the first $345,000 of compensation) or 20% of net income. The max contribution for SEPs in 2024 is $69,000.

  • Health Savings Account contribution limit increased to $4,150 for a self-only account or $8,300 for a family account. Participants age 55 and older can contribute an additional $1,000 as a catch-up contribution.
