Launching Primary Care in Fairbanks!

Myra Kelly, MSN, APRN, FNP - BC has joined our Medical Team, launching primary care in Fairbanks!

Myra is a Family Nurse Practitioner who works with both children and adults. She and her family recently moved to Fairbanks from Southeastern Kentucky.

Alaska Behavioral Health clients needing help with primary care can schedule with Myra by calling our Fairbanks front desk: 907-371-1300

Expanding Psychiatric Care in Fairbanks (& Anchorage)!

Larry Kelly, MSN, APRN, PMHNP-BC has also joined the Medical Team in Fairbanks, and will be providing psychiatric care for adults from our Fairbanks Clinic at 1423 Peger Road.

Susan Matthews, PhD, APRN, FAANP, is also providing psychiatric care for AKBH clients via telehealth.

Myra, Larry, and Susan join our expanded Medical Team. We have now eliminated waitlists for medical appointments and are accepting new clients!

Our providers work closely with Chief Medical Officer Dr. Curt Wengel and Director of Nursing Dr. Jessica Estes. Learn about the team here.

Evies Production Season

Food Fermenting Fun with @Alaska Seeds of Change!

Between June and November, the crew at Alaska Seeds of Change chopped, diced, and fermented 80 vats of fresh Alaska produce to make a full-line of fermented vegetable products, sold under the name Evies Brinery. The end result: more than 150 cases of kimchi and kraut to sell through the winter.

Evies Brinery provides the opportunity for apprentices to broaden their learning to include food handling safety and commercial kitchen skills. For head chef/production manager Drake King, its also meant managing logistics, and some personal growth. Read more here.

Peer Support Training Opportunities

Our 2022 Peer Support Training calendar is now posted! Class dates are scheduled throughout the year and with a variety of schedules to accommodate varying needs.

After completing this class, students are qualified to apply for positions as peer support specialists and eventually to complete state peer support certification. Peer support specialists use their own lived experience with mental illness and/or substance use to help support others on their paths to recovery. Meet some of our peer support specialists (and class graduates) !

It's time to file for your Alaska Permanent Fund Dividend!

PFD Applications are open through March 31 on the myAlaska portal. After completing the application, you'll have a chance to choose to donate a portion of your permanent fund dividend to an Alaska-based nonprofit.

Alaska Behavioral Health uses donations to help cover services and supports not covered by insurance or grant dollars, from therapy for uninsured clients to socks, snacks and other items for outreach and clients in need.
