1331 gym #1 before renovations. Similar to our own recovery journeys, we started from ground zero to create our new safe space.

1331 Gym #1 during renovations. With the love, support and donations we are almost there. Gratefully, we are only $60,000 away from reaching our goal of $300,000 and are still taking donations and sponsorships.

Greatest parents and long-time supporters

Fit To Recover would like to thank Steve and Suzanne Acker for their dedication and commitment to the Utah recovery community. They have given 110% since FTR was but a concept. They continually show up and support all of TeamFTR and those sturggling with substance use disorders in Utah. Thank you for the unconditional love and support from the beginning.

Member Spotlight, Bryan McArthur

From the first day you showed up at FTR and now, what’s one way that you have seen yourself grow?

'"My experience coming to FTR has been life changing. Not only do I get to combine my love of fitness, but it’s an added benefit to be surrounded by likeminded individuals. Those suffering with addiction & a similar goal! To stay sober & push forward with the power of connection!"

What’s been something you’ve struggled with and how did you move through it?

"I have truly grown & opened up through FTR. My first day I was withdrawn, shy and unsure where I belonged. It wasn’t long before I felt welcomed, loved & accepted by each & every individual that I’ve met here! The staff has always been available & supportive with whatever our needs are."

Has your understanding of your recovery changed since coming to FTR?

"One of my biggest struggles throughout my recovery has been consistency. Sticking to a routine even when my mind gets occupied with the daily struggles. Through FTR I have found a place that will help me separate those thoughts & regain focus on what’s truly important!

FTR has been an empowering experience through my recovery! Showing me there’s other outlets besides a simple meeting to help keep us sober. Allowing me to thrive in something bigger than myself & yet accomplish some personal growth along the way!"

"Hi guys I’m Logan!

I'm a certified personal trainer, nutritionist and fitness coach. I was born and raised in a very small town in Maryland. I moved to Utah a little over a year ago; I like to say the mountains drew me in but the people kept me here. My goal as a coach is to positively impact at least one person every single day. Working in the fitness industry over many years I’ve come to understand one simple rule: the effort you put forth in your workouts will translate to the effort you put forth in the real world."

Kristin Reed

Outreach Coordinator

"I am 2 years sober, and grateful for that daily. My husband and I are proud parents to Tyler our son, he is currently serving in the US Marines and is on his first deployment.

My love for FTR came very slowly. I was introduced to FTR while in treatment. After treatment, I tried to come many times and couldn't get myself out of my car when I arrived. One day I pulled up, got out, walked in and my life has changed in ways I can't put into words. FTR became the family that I was searching for, a safe place to be myself, work on establishing a healthier lifestyle, and making friends/family that will last a lifetime.

I look forward to spreading the FTR sparkle to ones in need of exactly what I received."

NUTRITION PILLAR

"Your heritage foods are your health and your wealth.” -Michael W. Twitty"

Honey Glazed Carrots

  • 2 pounds carrots, peeled
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter or ghee
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper

  • Preheat your oven to 425F/220C. Then, cut the carrots on a diagonal, about 1"-1.5" in length. If your carrots are large and thick, you can slice them in half as well.
  • In a mixing bowl, toss the sliced carrots with the honey, garlic, butter, oil, and spices.
  • Pour the carrots and glaze onto a sheet pan and spread them out.
  • Roast for 20-25 minutes, tossing halfway through. You can also broil for 2-3 minutes, to get caramelization on the edges.
  • Transfer carrots to a serving dish and garnish with chopped herbs.
