Jersey Cares
The Volunteer Voice

Vol 5, Issue 1           Be the change. Volunteer.             January 2016
What's your New Year's resolution, ?
Volunteering isn't just about giving to your community (although that is itself pretty nice incentive). It's also about self-improvement, setting and beating goals, and making a real connection to people around us. In other words, getting more involved in the new year is a perfect resolution!

If you're looking to get in shape, pick up an Earth Keepers in Jersey City (Veteran's Cemetary) for a workout. Are you trying to read more? Story-telling to Alzheimer's patients with Book Buddies in Wayne is for you! Do you want to develop leadership skills and boost your resume? Then this is the year to become a volunteer leader!

The holiday season has come to a close (and with it, our amazingly successful Frosty's Friends and Annual Coat Drive), it's a new year, and we're excited to get started! From our daily volunteer opportunities to our Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service, you'll see what the commotion's all about. We resolve to see you at a project soon!
Seasonal Success Stories

 Marketplace in Toms River
Hey South Jersey, we need you!

Volunteer Star:
Ronzell Dundas
For over 30 years, Ronzell had worked in the corporate world. But with her daughter's imminent graduation approaching, she decided it was time to give back. She started as a Jersey Cares volunteer in 2007 and quickly found her niche teaching women basic computer literacy with  Computer Essentials in Elizabeth . Although the language barrier has been difficult, the exchanges are always win-win.

Corporate Corner

The season of giving was off to a great start this December thanks to the hard work of Jako KicksUSA volunteers. These first string employees created over 50 military care packages that were donated to service men and women overseas. Each gift was crafted with love and creativity to ensure each recipient felt special.
