New Year, New Me
The calendar starts anew and it’s time to think of how to make 2019 a better year – what goals we want to achieve and personal challenges we want to overcome. Like the rest of us, Fellowship House residents are pledging to make changes to their own lives:
- Mr. Vuong says he plans to exercise every day
- Ms. Huffman says her resolution is to lose weight and spend more time with family and friends
- Ms. Brown pledges to take a trip somewhere but she’s not yet sure where she wants to go
- Ms. Herring wants to maintain her health and have less trips to the doctor
- Ms. Byrd wants to declutter her apartment
- Mrs. Kennon pledges to make healthier food choices
Their resolutions are all too familiar to me – and probably to you, too.
Whether you are a habitual resolution-maker each January 1, or like some, don’t believe in making annual resolutions, I hope your 2019 plans include continued support to Fellowship Square. We not only provide housing for 800+ seniors with little to no income, but we provide an array of programs and services, none of which would be possible without the generous support we receive from individuals like you.
Thank you for all you do to support seniors in our community. I wish you the best of luck in accomplishing your 2019 goals – or resolutions. Happy New Year!

Fellowship Square has been awarded $25,000 from the
Virginia Housing Development Authority
(VHDA) to conduct an evaluation and assessment of the programs and services we provide to Fellowship House residents. This grant will allow us to understand the impact our programs have on residents’ health and well-being and identify gaps in services that we can seek to fulfill through community partnerships, volunteers and fundraising efforts.
