January 2019
Happy New Year!

Thank you for another successful year at the Lowcountry Food Bank! In 2018, we fought childhood hunger at Chefs' Feast, piloted our School Market program, weathered a few storms and so much more. Thanks to supporters like you, we were able to serve more than 200,000 people in our community who struggle with hunger.

Chefs’ Feast is an annual collaboration between the Lowcountry Food Bank and 30 of the area’s most celebrated chefs who offer up delectable bites to raise funds to fight childhood hunger in the ten coastal counties of South Carolina.
Government Shutdown Update
The Lowcountry Food Bank prepares to distribute food and supplies to those who may be affected by the government shutdown if it continues.
2018 Farm Bill Update
The 2018 Farm Bill protects and preserves nutrition programs like The Emergency Food Assistance Program and Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program. For the millions of children, seniors, veterans, and families who need food assistance, this delivers welcome peace of mind.
Welcoming a New Community Partner!
Bintelli Powersports partners with the Lowcountry Food Bank to feed people in our community. With the recent opening of Bintelli Powersports in West Ashley comes a new opportunity, one which owner Justin Jackrel is using to give back to the local community.
Do you know?
Help us lead the fight against hunger and learn about the people we serve! Many people ask questions about how many children in South Carolina are food insecure and how you can tell whether a child is struggling with food insecurity. We hope you'll take a moment to learn the facts about childhood hunger in South Carolina. Do you know the answers?
And the Award Goes to...
On December 11, the Lowcountry Food Bank hosted its annual staff retreat where we celebrated the achievements of our employees. This year, the Golden Apple Award was presented to employees who best represent our five core values: respect, integrity, commitment, collaboration and stewardship. Congratulations to Barbara Miller, Greg Weathers, Shawn Young, Andrew Peiffer and Autumn Reid!
