Corporate Transparency Act

As of January 1, 2024, certain types of corporations, limited liability companies, and other similar entities created in or registered to do business in the United States must report information about their beneficial owners to the Department of the Treasury’s Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN).

Employee Retention Credit Voluntary Disclosure Program

The Internal Revenue Service launched a new Voluntary Disclosure Program to help businesses who want to pay back the money they received after filing ERC claims in error. Interested employers must apply for the program by March 22, 2024.

Taxes and USDA Programs

If you received funds from the USDA through activities such as a conservation program payment or a disaster program that is considered farm income that includes a tax liability for farm businesses. Prepare for tax season with these helpful resources.

Piedmont Pitch returns in 2024!

Following the great success of the inaugural Piedmont Pitch program in 2023, The City of Charlottesville Office of Economic Development and Albemarle County Economic Development Office are partnering to bring back the program!


The Piedmont Pitch Competition will take place during the Tom Tom Festival in April 2024! Following 8 weeks of training programs, participants will submit their business plans for scoring to then select the finalists who will pitch at the Piedmont Pitch Competition. The teams at Charlottesville, Albemarle, CV SBDC, and Tom Tom are working together to plan a pitch competition you won't want to miss!


Applications launching soon - deadline to apply is Feb 1, 2024. Piedmont Pitch 2024 will launch on Feb 7, 2024.
