Join us for E.P.I.C. Mentor Matchmaking
New Year brings many new events for entrepreneurs and professionals
E.P.I.C. or Entrepreneurs & Professionals in the Community will host its first event of the New Year on Tuesday, Jan. 12. This "Mentor Matchmaking" event will be held at Cohab from 5:30 - 7 p.m. Guest speakers include Bob Breaux, Louisiana State Director of SCORE, and Charles Holoubek, Louisiana Patent Attorney. Breaux will discuss the status of the Shreveport-Bossier SCORE Chapter and the importance of mentoring, both the giving and the receiving. Holoubek will review what to expect from his continuing education course, which is called Louisiana Patent Academy. Our goal is to end the event with small breakouts and enable mentor matchmaking between the entrepreneurs and business professionals present at the event.

Louisiana: A Fork in the Road
Committee of 100 tackles budget reform
The Committee of 100 commissioned the Tax Foundation out of Washington, D.C., to look into the state's budget and compiled a report - "Louisiana Fiscal Reform: A Framework for the Future." As the state is facing deficits this year, the Committee of 100 has gone on the road, taking its message of budget reform throughout the state ahead of the upcoming special session, including its stop in Shreveport-Bossier this week. State Rep. Julie Stokes, R-Kenner, was the spokeswoman for the January 4 event.
