God, Gratitude, and a Home: Janet’s Story |
In this month's feature, we are proud to share Janet’s story of resilience, faith, and the power of community. After a devastating car accident that left her in a coma for 19 days, Janet endured years of recovery, countless surgeries, and the challenge of rebuilding her life. When homelessness became her reality, she turned to Habitat for Humanity Yuba/Sutter, where she found not just a roof over her head, but a supportive community at Prosperity Village. Now, with her beloved cat by her side, Janet is thriving in her new home. Read her inspiring journey and see how affordable housing transforms lives.

| Honoring President Carter - A Legacy of Faith And Service | President Jimmy Carter and his wife Rosalynn Carter, on a Habitat for Humanity build in Tijiuna, 1990. Some 3,000 volunteers worked alongside 100 families from Tijuana, Mexico, and San Diego, California, to build their homes. |
At Habitat for Humanity Yuba/Sutter, we join the world in mourning the loss of President Jimmy Carter, a compassionate leader, humanitarian, and unwavering advocate for affordable housing. Alongside his beloved wife Rosalynn, President Carter spent decades working with Habitat for Humanity, building not only homes but also hope and opportunity for families around the world.
His remarkable legacy extends far beyond his words; he led by example, rolling up his sleeves to work side by side with families, volunteers, and communities. Through his humility and committed belief in the power of unity, he demonstrated that real change begins with each of us. For President Carter, every home built symbolized more than shelter—it represented stability, dignity, and a brighter future for those in need.
As we reflect on his extraordinary contributions, we are reminded of the core values that drive our mission. Inspired by his hands-on leadership and tireless commitment, we recommit ourselves to the work he held so dear: building homes, communities, and hope for all.
We honor his memory by continuing his important work: ensuring that everyone has a decent place to live.
In remembrance,
Your Neighbors at Habitat for Humanity Yuba/Sutter

Our Jimmy Carter Memorial | |
We are deeply grateful to everyone who participated in our Memorial honoring President Jimmy Carter and contributed messages to our Memorial Door. This unique door, now filled with touching tributes, will be incorporated into a future Habitat for Humanity home, serving as a permanent reminder of President Carter’s extraordinary dedication to service and community.
The Memorial Door project was created to give our community an opportunity to honor his legacy in a meaningful way. Every message written on the door reflects the profound impact President Carter had through his advocacy for affordable, safe housing.
As we move forward, the messages on this door will remain a symbol of President Carter’s enduring legacy—a reminder to all of us that by working together, we can continue to build a world of opportunity for those in need.
Thank you for your support and for honoring the life of President Jimmy Carter with us. His memory will continue to inspire Habitat for Humanity’s mission for generations to come.

Spa Day for Those in Need |
We were grateful to attend the Spa Health and Wellness Day organized by REST (Regional Emergency Shelter Team). This special event provided guests staying with REST an opportunity to receive haircuts, makeovers, essential health screenings, and access to social services aimed at connecting them with the support they need.
We’re proud that our team was onsite to share valuable information about our programs and resources. Community action starts at the ground level, and it’s always a privilege to contribute to such meaningful efforts!

Martin Luther King Jr. March |
Some of our dedicated team members proudly joined the community for the annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day event, celebrating the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
It was truly inspiring to march alongside neighbors, friends, and fellow organizations, united in the shared spirit of equality, service, and hope. Dr. King’s dream continues to remind us of the transformative power of community and collective action.
