Habitat Programs & Homeowner Support

Critical Repairs

We envision a world where EVERYONE has a decent place to live. Our Critical Repair program offers reduced-cost repairs to local homeowners. Everyone deserves to live in a home that is safe, accessible, and livable. If your home is in Hanover or King William, with a household income of no more than $60,600, you may qualify for repairs. Learn more about our qualifications and application process online.

On Tuesday, February 27, at 5:45 p.m., Blazer Heating, Air, & Plumbing will share helpful advice on HVAC and plumbing to get through the winter months. Everyone is welcome to attend this free class, and attendees will get snacks and a special ReStore coupon. We hope to see you there!

Did you know you can order solid wood cabinets through the ReStore? We have new colors and styles to choose from, including grays and whites! Come into the store and talk with Rick, the manager, to order your new kitchen or bathroom cabinets!

Habitat lost a local hero last month. Larry Lee was a longtime, dedicated volunteer. Starting as a board member in Habitat’s early days, he quickly became essential to the organization. He was even appointed the interim executive director in 2007. While helping the organization from a governing perspective, he found a love for recycling. He became an integral part of the recycling program and helped launch our can initiative. In the early 2000s, he helped create ‘can cottages’ and bins to be dispersed throughout the county. Until his passing, he came to Habitat weekly to collect aluminum cans on our behalf. Even when in the hospital, he would be thinking of our can collection, calling other volunteers to take his place. Without Larry’s dedication, our recycling program would not have been as successful.

His wife, Carolyn, was also a committed Habitat volunteer, coming to the ReStore weekly. She battled cancer for the last five years with Larry by her side but unfortunately lost her battle six weeks ago. Habitat was lucky to have such a supportive couple helping the organization.

Larry was a kind man who continually gave his time, money, and connections to help our organization. He brought insight and enthusiasm and will be sorely missed. Larry was a hero for Habitat and has left an incredible legacy.

Thank you, Larry. We will miss you.
