Well, the calendar turned, and 2022 is officially here! What are you up to in the new year? Hitting the gym to tackle resolutions? Hopping on the dry January wagon to recoup from the seasonal festivities? Planning spring break trips and dreaming of the sun? Maybe you're still listening to Christmas tunes and enjoying the holiday season? Whatever you're up to in the New Year, we hope you are as excited as we are for what's in-store. The landscape design and build supply chain, like many industries, are bearing the weight of some hefty demand. We at Property Pros are doing our best to stay on top of the dynamic situation, and we want to help keep you prepared. What can you do as you look ahead to plan renovation projects for the year? Here are a few tips:

Start planning now:
If you hope to install a new outdoor feature or start a major renovation project soon, it is best to start planning now. Get ahead of busy calendars and limited supplies by scheduling your project as soon as you are ready to commit. Feel free to contact us to discuss what your project may look like and get an idea of when work can begin.

Have a flexible timeline:
In addition to the routine timeline interferences experienced during a landscape project, like weather delays, you may come across backed-up calendars from contractors, varying back-ordered products, and even a limited supply of labor. The best thing you can do is have a lot of patience and a flexible timeline to get your project finished. This tip goes for furnishing your outdoor space as well, with outdoor furniture and home decor accessories seeing extended ship-times.

Leave room in your budget:
Nobody likes to hear that prices are rising, but the U.S. is seeing inflation across industries. If you are planning an outdoor landscape and design project, consider leaving room in your budget to cover any cost increases in addition to funding your must-have features. Doing this will help you rest easy in preparation for any potential unexpected costs that you run into as you plan.

As always, the Pros are here for you and are ready to help with any of your outdoor lifestyle ideas and questions! Give us a call to schedule a consultation. Here's to a great year!

Wet weather and freezing temperatures can make for slick conditions on paver patios and pathways. Many homeowners scatter rock salt to remove snow and ice but this can break-down pavers and cement in the long-run, causing crumbling, cracking, and other damage. It is best to physically remove snow with shovels or snow blowers, in addition, to using a calcium chloride based ice melt like, Safe Step, to prevent icy surfaces. This type of ice melt will be less corrosive on your pavers.
Congratulations to our Employee of the Month, Dede Farmer!
In the new year, we will continue to acknowledge one employee a month who has gone above and beyond in supporting the team and embodying our company values of quality, communication, faith, integrity, and community. This month, that person is our fearless Director of Administration, Dede Farmer! Dede planned two company holiday parties and made sure our team was in the holiday spirit last month with treats for the 12 days leading up to Christmas. She consistently makes sure everything is running smoothly, and her knowledge and insights of all things Property Pros is invaluable in supporting our crews and design teams. Please help us congratulate Dede Farmer as our January employee of the month!

  • 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken thighs, cut into 1-inch chunks
  • Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 3 carrots, peeled and diced
  • 2 celery ribs, diced
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 5 cups chicken stock
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 3/4 cup uncooked orzo pasta
  • 1 sprig rosemary
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley leaves

  2. Add remaining 1 tablespoon oil to the stockpot. Add garlic, onion, carrots and celery. Cook, stirring occasionally, until tender, about 3-4 minutes. Stir in thyme until fragrant, about 1 minute.
  3. Whisk in chicken stock, bay leaves and 1 cup water; bring to a boil. Stir in orzo, rosemary and chicken; reduce heat and simmer until orzo is tender, about 10-12 minutes. Stir in lemon juice and parsley; season with salt and pepper, to taste.
