"When One is Successful - We Are All Successful"
Stork deliveries temporarily
re-routed at BBGH
Newly hired Hospitalist will enhance Family Practice/OB physician recruitment efforts

Labor and Delivery services will be temporarily suspended beginning January 2019 due to private practice Alliance Family Medicine physicians Dr. Tim Narjes and Dr. Terri Myers discontinuing delivery services. “I want to stress that we are diligently searching for qualified Family Practice/Obstetric physicians,” BBGH CEO Lori Mazanec said, “and plan to start offering Labor and Delivery again as soon as we fill the physician openings.”

BBGH is working with physician recruitment firm Goldfish Medical Staffing of Plano, TX to help in those efforts. “Our emphasis with them will be recruitment of a Family Practice/Obstetric physician,” Ms. Mazanec said. “When that goal is obtained, Dr. Narjes has indicated he will be able to resume his labor and delivery services. Ideally, we want at least two new qualified Family Practice/Obstetric physicians. That is our ultimate goal, having at least three family physicians providing OB services.”

Until that time, BBGH will:
  • Continue to provide the exceptional quality of care the community has come to expect
  • Collaborate with the Regional West and surrounding hospitals, and have providers connect patients to OB services to complement their care
  • Increase training for staff to handle emergency OB situations at BBGH
  • Remain diligent in its search for qualified Family Practice/Obstetric physicians.

A barrier to recruitment efforts has been removed with the addition of a Hospitalist to BBGH (Hospitalists only see patients admitted to the hospital). “Dr. Dwaine Smith specializes in Internal Medicine and started his duties as a Hospitalist at BBGH Wednesday, Dec. 12,” Ms. Mazanec said. “Today’s family physicians like to practice at health care facilities that have a Hospitalist on staff so that they can collaborate with them on the care of their patients. Having Dr. Smith join our team will definitely help us in our efforts to recruit family physicians.”

NEW - Local Tourism Slogan
"Chart Your Course - Visit Alliance "
Nothing against our slogan, Building the Best Hometown in America, but we decided that it was more for enhancing our community pride, not attracting "visitors" to the community. Our new slogan will allow the ending to be interchangeable so an event, attraction, or community can use it. The ad above is the new AD we created to be featured in 2019 magazines for Alliance. We hope to amp up our digital marketing in the coming year.

BBDC in partnership with the local Chambers in Alliance and Hemingford have recently started a "Hospitality & Attractions Committee" that will meet monthly to plan the year and advocate for one another. Often many of our local events are booked on the same weekend, leaving other weekends with nothing going on. The idea is to pull event committees, tourist attractions, and the hospitality establishments (hotel/motel) together. Meetings are the second Thursday of each month @ 2 p.m. Meeting locations are subject to move around

If you are interested in joining this group please call the office 308.762.1800 or email Shaylee.Hance@bbc.net to be added to the distribution list.
