Offering HeART and SoulCollage® workshops to inspire your creative spirit

Opening to Fresh Starts and New Possibilities

Dear Glenda,

Happy New Year! I always love the fresh start feeling of a new year. As we step into January, I am inviting us to take a moment to embrace the beauty of setting heartfelt intentions instead of rigid resolutions. I believe that intentions are like seeds planted in the fertile soil of our creativity and personal growth. Rather than pressuring ourselves with strict goals, we can cultivate a nurturing environment where we explore our inner selves, allowing joy and inspiration to guide us.

At the beginning of each new year my writing group comes together for a day-long retreat where we create life vision boards for the year ahead. What these boards are about is setting our energy and intentions in motion for our hopes, dreams, and visions for the upcoming year. What they are not about is a list of new year’s resolutions. They are more about “I’d love to…” versus “I resolve to…” Make sense?

Instead of confining ourselves to resolutions, I am all for joining together in a supportive community where we can find the space to express ourselves and share our stories. At my Down to Earth Studio workshops and retreats, we delve into the transformative power of personal exploration, encouraging connection with nature and your own creativity, especially at the "Courting the Muse" retreat I am offering this year at Tipi Village Retreats Center. Together, we’ll discover the joy that comes from nurturing our intentions and celebrating the unique paths we each walk in this beautiful life.

This New Year, may we focus on the process of self-discovery, celebrating each small step and the stories that unfold along the way. Together, we can create a tapestry of experiences that reflect our true selves, blossoming into the year ahead.

Wishing you fresh starts and joyful journeys. May your year be full of courage, connection, and the best kind of surprises!

Thank you for being here,

GG

(This workshop is full; Email GG to get on the waiting list)

Saturday, January 4, 2025

9:30 am to 4:00 pm

GG's Down to Earth Studio

Shrines and altars are ways of showing in tangible form what might be happening in our hearts and spirits. We will gather and put these mysteries into visual expression by creating our own personal shrines for hope and healing.

Your shrine can be dedicated to the environment, diversity of all species, return of the great feminine, your higher power, your spiritual practice, or to simply heal your broken heart…whatever moves you.

No cost for the workshop instruction; this is my love offering (a $30.00 material fee will cover materials and supplies). the Down to Earth Studio has a plethora of supplies and goodies to include in your little shrine. Participants may want to bring additional totems, talismans and charms.

Bring your inner artist out to play! In this fun and serendipitous workshop we will experiment with spray inks and watercolor to create dynamic backgrounds, then we blow air through straws to "dance" the sumi ink across the surface and make abstract designs. Always fun! Always surprising!

Add stamped designs, gel pens, glitter pens, and/or posca paint markers to create designs that can be used in large format as framed art, or in smaller pieces for cards or collage.

Courting the Muse: Nourish Your Innate Creativity!

Explore, Express, Expand!

June 12 to 15, 2025 at Tipi Village Retreats in Marcola, Oregon with GG and Cindy Brodner.

Imagine spending four days nestled in the sanctuary of a rich green forest next to a babbling brook, sleeping in a cozy bed, being pampered with gourmet food, playing with paint and collage, and renewing that spontaneous, juicy, creative, soulful part of yourself. It’s all yours to enjoy in a community of kindred spirits. “Courting the Muse” is an immersive arts retreat held in the heart of a Doug fir, pine, and fern forest next to a meandering creek, this workshop focuses on tapping into your subconscious mind and intuition to inspire and free-up your original creative expression.

GG and Cindy will be your midwives clearing the way for you to meet your muse and bring forth the creative impulses that have been stirring inside you as you step out of what you think is true about your creative self, and step into an environment where you feel free to birth whatever wants to be expressed.

If you are interested, please don't delay. We expect the 12 openings in this retreat to fill up fast. 10% discount for BIPOC community members. Learn more and register on my website here.

Special Opportunities and Recommendations

Are the mountains calling?

My friend & colleague Larisa Noonan is offering a Women's Wisdom Quest this coming summer (July 7-15) in the wilds of Northern Idaho.

Wilderness Quest Opportunity

Co-facilitated by Larisa Noonan and Alison DeLong, this rite of passage includes 3 days and nights of solo time in nature, preceded by 3 days of preparation in community and followed by 3 days of meaningful integration.

All women are welcome, especially those longing for more community connection, communion with Mother Earth, and those who are seeking meaningful markers of initiatory change that are already unfolding in their current life (ie: changes in work/career, entering menopause, children leaving home, relationships ending or beginning...).

Larisa and Alison will be offering a zoom meeting in early 2025 for those who are interested - to share stories, the format of this quest, and to answer questions. For more information or to be notified of the date for this meeting, reach out to Larisa directly at larisa@larisanoonan.com.

What Stories are You Ready to Tell?

Drop-In Writing Circles for Women with Susan Hagen

Susan is the story mentor and teacher that helped me write Solo Passage. The book would not have become what it is without her encouragement and expertise. I whole-heartedly recommend her weekly writing circles as a way to get your stories down on paper.

Wherever you are in your journey or on your path, you’re invited to join women from across the country at Susan's weekly drop-in Zoom writing circles. These gentle, supportive, healing circles foster self-awareness and personal growth. What story are you ready to tell? What will your writing teach you about yourself?

Each session includes a meditative teaching, writing and reading aloud (if you wish), deep listening, and positive reflection. No writing experience necessary, just a desire to explore your writing life in ceremony with other women.

Every Thursday and Friday morning

Via ZOOM, 10 am– 12 pm Pacific Time

Sliding scale $25-$55. Contact suzhagen@sonic.net for more information or to join her email invitation list. Learn more about Susan at her website.

For the Love of Trees

This excerpt and link from Emergence Magazine invites us to deepen our relationship with a favorite tree.

"From the lasting presence of old-growth forests to the rooted sentinels of our own backyards, trees are humans’ oldest and most constant companions. Since the very beginning we have been intimately linked with these beings, sharing breath within Earth’s great respiration of carbon and oxygen.

"And while we often reduce trees to merely enduring ornaments within our landscapes, consume them as expendable resources, they constantly invite us—through bloom, shade, wonder, breath—into closer relationship. In this practice, you are encouraged to respond to such gifts with a renewed quality of attention."

Here is a link to a lovely documentary with Judi Dench, My Passion for Trees, BBC 2017.
