Family Enterprise Entertainment
January 2022
Dear Global Family Enterprise Community,

Happy Friday and Happy New Year! We've decided to start the new year off with some family-centered entertainment picks: two current hits and one old favorite.

If you haven't seen this International box-office hit, also streaming on Disney +, we suggest you do! Set in Colombia, the story centers around the Madrigal family and the extraordinary super powers that they use to help the town, and Maribel, the only member of her family without those powers. On the 50th anniversary of the magical candle-lighting ceremony, Maribel notices dangerous cracks in the foundation of the family home. When she attempts to alert her abuela, she is told not to interfere. Will Maribel be able to restore the family magic in time?

This drama series, in its 4th season on Amazon Prime, follows the 6th-generation Dutton Family, who own the largest contiguous ranch in the United States. John Dutton, the family patriarch, is determined to maintain his family's legacy at all costs. The Duttons are constantly challenged by their land being encroached upon on all sides --
by land developers, an Indian reservation, and America's first National Park. Created by Academy Award-nominated screenwriter Taylor Sheridan and a cast led by Oscar winner Kevin Costner, "Yellowstone" was just nominated for a SAG award for Best Ensemble acting.

Released in 1993, directed by famed director Lasse Hallstrom, "Gilbert Grape" has maintained a cult following and remains a popular choice on cable and streaming channels. From the outside, Gilbert Grape, played by Johnny Depp, seems like a typical small-town guy, but Gilbert has a family he's responsible for, unlike most other guys his age. If he's not taking care of his morbidly obese mother, he's helping Arie, his younger disabled brother, (Leonardo DiCaprio, in his first Oscar-nominated role). Follow this coming-of-age story that shows the lengths a young man will go to to be there for his family and loved ones.
