The birds they sang
At the break of day
Start again
I heard them say
Don't dwell on what has passed away
Or what is yet to be
Ring the bells that still can ring . . .
There is a crack, a crack in everything
That's how the light gets in
Every heart, every heart
To love will come
But like a refugee
— Leonard Cohen, Anthem
The new year is almost upon us. Once again it will be time for the Dharmalaya community to ring the bell of dharma, to open further the crack that lets light into a world so dark. To renew our commitment to love. To project love out to all refugees from lonliness and despair. And it's time to take another step into the breaking New Day.
As we have done on New Year's day for the past 20 years, we’ll create an opportunity to be together in community, sharing songs, silence, and expressions of our aspirations for bringing light, love, and positive change in the coming year.
Dharmalaya’s New Year's Day programs have consistently featured our highest expression of community. The thoughts, spirit, and love that gets shared at these times has provided the perfect inspiration with which to start the new year. All welcome!
