A New Year's Message from Phil Hawley

Everyone here at Hawley & Associates would like to wish you and yours a very Happy New Year!
This past year has been a memorable one for H&A, in particular, the creation of the The Wayne Hawley Giving Grant, named in loving memory of my father, Wayne Hawley; a man who was instrumental in making Hawley & Associates the strong & caring company it is today. We look forward to carrying on his memory through this grant program for our Social Service, Human Service and Child Welfare clients for years to come.
I am also thankful for our many clients (old and new!) and for the tireless and selfless work they do, each and every day. Thank you to my dedicated staff, who truly believes in the industry we serve and to the dear friends and associates of Hawley & Associates. We could not do what we do without your support and dedication!
As a new year quickly approaches, we look forward to the possibilities the new year brings. We wish you continued success and thank you for your commitment in making the world a better place!

Extended Reporting Coverage
(aka TAIL COVERAGE)
Extended Reporting Coverage (ERC), or "TAIL" coverage is provided for claims reported after the expiration of a Claims-Made policy, if such claims arose from acts or omissions occurring before the ERC was issued or effective.
The insured will typically purchase ERC for a period of one year, two years, three years, five years, and, under some policies, an unlimited period of time. The cost is generally a multiple of the last annual policy premium, and depends on the length of time selected for the ERC. Most insurers do require the purchase of the ERC within a certain number of days from the date of policy expiration or the option to purchase coverage will be lost.
Here are a few examples in which an organization may want to purchase this type of coverage:
1. An organization may dissolve and cease operations
2. An organization has been acquired
3. An organization is merging with another agency
All these situations require special attention and Extended Reporting Coverage should be considered critical in order to protect your For-Profit and/or Non-Profit (including your Directors and Officers) from future claims.

Kids Crossing is a child placement agency founded BY foster parents, FOR foster parents. In 1992, Jan and Larry Faubion founded Kids Crossing, a non-profit child placement agency dedicated to supporting foster parents and those children who touch their hearts and influence their lives. Their mission is to strengthen families so they may provide the best care to those children entrusted to them.
Their foster parents can provide short-term respite care, others have served 100's of foster children, and other families want to grow through adoption. Their foster parents can be quite diverse, with some being single parents, active military, working professionals or urban families. All are a integral part of the Kids Crossing family.
They are based in Colorado and have locations in Colorado Springs, Denver and Pueblo.

Winter is a comin'... are you ready?

We have had some challenging weather throughout the nation already this year. Now is a good time to review your company
policies on winter preparedness BEFORE winter starts knocking on your door:
1. Prepare for snow/ice removal on sidewalks, parking lots and main entrances to prevent slip & falls.
2. Repair gutters and inspect your roof to prevent leaks and water damage.
3. Insulate exposed pipes to prevent freezing.
4. Prepare company vehicles with adequate tires, sufficient anti-freeze, emergency kits and an
Accident Procedure Form in each vehicle.
5. Implement Safe Work Practices for employees & volunteers.
6. Have an emergency plan in place for inclement weather and/or emergencies.
7.
Review your insurance policies to ensure proper coverage on building
and vehicles.

WACAP's 40th Anniversary Ruby Gala
Hawley & Associates was excited to once again attend and sponsor The World Association for Children & Parents' (
WACAP
) Annual Gala. This year was their 40th anniversary of championing for children, finding and preparing adoptive families, and offering lifelong support after adoption.
The event was held at the beautiful Marriott hotel, in Bellevue, WA.
There was both a silent and live auction, along with a delicious catered dinner. The event was buzzing with stories of adoption, love and hope and people were so generous in their giving!
Since 1976, WACAP has placed over 10,000 children and has provided food, medical care and education to more than 200,000 children worldwide.

Sandy Zuck
Sandy came to H&A with a strong background in insurance claims and is a perfect fit in her role as Assistant Account Manager. She is quickly becoming a vital part of our organization. Her strong qualifications, attention to detail and sincere dedication to service make her a perfect fit to our 'family'.
Sandy is originally from Washington State, but briefly moved to California to be closer to family. She quickly realized that Washington is where her heart is and relocated once again (and we are glad she did!).
We are so happy to have her part of the Team Hawley!
