I hope you all enjoyed some rest and time for reflection over the holiday period, and that this finds you and your families safe and well.
I trust that everyone is rested and ready to return to campus for face-to-face instruction this Monday, January 11th. The current 10-person restriction on gatherings does not apply to schools, particularly given the successful implementation of and adherence to the required public health protocols during Term 1. The school will continue to adhere to, reinforce and further reiterate the health protocols and standards to ensure we are providing a safe and healthy environment for our students, teachers and families. Over the holiday break, the school has been thoroughly cleaned, refreshed and sanitized. Additionally, we are working hard to strengthen the measures in place to preserve the classroom bubbles.
For those families that have travelled, we ask that you please self-report your student’s travel and confirm the receipt of the respective Day 8 negative test results before your child returns to school. Respecting the relevant quarantine rules for travelers, visitors and household members, and maintaining small personal bubbles outside of school will help us protect in-school instruction and maintain a safe environment in the school. Thanks to your ongoing support, transparency and cooperation, we have had a very good safety record as a school community. I, therefore, encourage everyone to please continue their diligence and adherence to the public health guidelines.
We will provide updates and will advise on any changes to school protocols as quickly as possible if community or school developments require any changes to be made at Somersfield. We recognize that families will continue to be impacted by the evolving COVID-19 situation, and that some students will require remote support at varying intervals. We will continue to provide that support as best we can.
We are excited to welcome our students back to campus next week and look forward to working with our families to ensure they are provided with a rewarding educational experience despite the challenging circumstances. We have much to look forward to in 2021, the year that will mark the 30th anniversary of the school as well as the first student graduates from our IB Diploma Programme. That's definitely something to celebrate!
We look forward to sharing all of this, and more, with you in the year ahead, and wish you all a fresh start in 2021.
