'Luxury Liner Row, New York circa 1957,' shared courtesy of the V. Amabile Collection
The SS United States Conservancy is thrilled to share a stunning new painting by world-renowned maritime artist, Robert G. Lloyd. Supporters may remember Lloyd's earlier depiction of the SS United States featured on the cover of John Maxtone-Graham’s classic book, “SS United States: Red, White & Blue Ribband, Forever.”

Titled "Luxury Liner Row, New York circa 1957," this impressive new artwork depicts the New York Passenger Ship Terminal between West 46th and West 54th streets, and features the SS United States berthed alongside the other great liners of her era. Lloyd writes of the Big U, "She towers above all else, surely a sight to behold and instantly recognizable to anyone."

In an exciting, exclusive offer, the artist is selling a limited-edition print of the painting, with 25 percent of the sales proceeds donated to the Conservancy in support of our ongoing work to save the SS United States . With the holidays around the corner, CLICK HERE for more details on how you can order a print today!

The SS United States Conservancy continues to preserve and celebrate the legacy of the SS United States , the fastest ocean liner ever built and the only great American liner still afloat. We are partnering with the Pollin Group to offer the SS United States Legacy Cruise, a seven-night cruise to Bermuda aboard the Celebrity Summit. The special trip will be f ull of onboard activities commemorating the history of the Big U and the era of transatlantic ocean liners.

The May 2018 cruise will feature riveting talks on the design and innovation of the SS United States by award winning author and illustrator David Macaulay and other experts, social gatherings highlighting the music, dance and fashion of the era, and much, much more! Bermuda itself is an extraordinary destination, with beautiful pink sand beaches, incredible historic sites, and a rich, maritime heritage, including earlier visits from the SS United States !

A portion of all cruise sales will directly support the preservation of the SS United States and the Conservancy’s growing curatorial collections. Deposits to secure your spot on this special trip are due December 1. Find out more about the Legacy Cruise HERE .

Our generous supporters continue to share photographs and memories from their time aboard America’s Flagship. This week we’re excited to feature the photographs of passengers Leslie and Patti Thomas.

The sisters traveled on the SS United States in 1963 and recall a subdued atmosphere on board following the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.
