County-wide fire station alerting system goes live
A new fire station alerting system went live this week, improving fire and EMS response throughout Cochise County.
Sierra Vista Fire & Medical Services shared this video of a test call to demonstrate what crews now see and hear when a call is dispatched. The system is complete with maps, call information, a response timer, and automated dispatching, which saves valuable time compared to conveying the information over the radio. Crews get information in multiple ways, including via a smartphone app.
This project was proposed by Sierra Vista Fire & Medical Services and Fry Fire District. It was paid for with $2.24 million of American Rescue Plan Act funds approved by the Cochise County Board of Supervisors in April.

Registration is now open at the Sports Division, located at 3401 E. Fry Blvd., next to the Rothery Educational Service Center.
Participants will need to try on a jersey or T-shirt to enable staff to order the correct sizes. A $10 late fee will be charged for registration after Nov. 18.
The tip-off for the 2023 Youth Coed Recreational Basketball Program is tentatively set for the middle of January. Practices will begin early January 2023.
