New athletic/P.E. spaces at BHS ready this spring!
We hope you have had a wonderful winter break! There is much to look forward to during the second half of the 2022-23 school year in Barrington 220, as various Build 220 construction projects wrap up at Countryside Elementary, Hough Street Elementary and Barrington High School.

At BHS, this spring students and staff will be able to utilize the new multi-sport turf field on the north side of the building, as well as the new varsity baseball field and Fields of Dreams. The new tennis courts on the north side of the building are anticipated to be ready for students in late spring. In addition, work continues on the new front atrium addition on the south side of the building. Click here to view updated videos and photos!

At Countryside and Hough, additions are anticipated to open at the end of February. Countryside's new addition will be a first grade classroom. Hough's new addition will include a sensory room for students with special needs, as well as resource rooms. Click the link for each school to view updated photos and videos!

BHS marching band performs in London New Year's Day Parade
The BHS Marching Band recently returned from the UK, after making its third appearance in the London New Year's Day Parade. Ninety-five BHS students participated in this once in a lifetime opportunity, which provided them with a unique cultural and artistic experience. Click here to watch their full performance!

Safety tips for parents/guardians during an emergency
During an emergency situation at one of our schools, it is important for our community to work together. Barrington 220 has developed these tips for parents/guardianswhich share specific actions parents/guardians should take in the event of an emergency.

As a reminder, Barrington 220 utilizes an Illinois school safety helpline to provide students a place to report information that might prevent bullying, suicide, and campus violence. The program, Safe2Help is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It allows our stakeholders to confidentially share school safety issues. 
What you need to know about fentanyl
Barrington 220 often works with community partners to provide awareness and education for parents and students about the harmful effects of substance abuse. BStrong Together partnered with Good Shepherd Hospital and hosted several experts to share information regarding the dangers of fentanyl and how to protect your child/others. Mental health resource for D220 families and staff
Barrington 220 is committed to the well-being of our students, staff, and families in order to create a safe and healthy learning environment. The district is partnering with Care Solace, which helps individuals find mental health care providers and substance use treatment centers in our community. BHS girls volleyball coach earns national recognition
Congrats to BHS teacher Michelle Jakubowski, who has been named a 2022 Girls High School Region Coach of the Year by the American Volleyball Coaches Association! She is among 40 coaches from across the country to earn the recognition. Michelle has been teaching and coaching girls volleyball at BHS for nine years. The team placed 3rd in the 2022 IHSA Class 4A match.

Join BStrong Together for an interactive virtual presentation about how you can support your student athlete. BCGT hosting virtual Monthly Wisdom program
The Barrington Council for the Gifted and Talented (BCGT) invites students, parents and educators for its virtual January Monthly Wisdom Program, "Life of Success vs.
Life of Significance". The discussion will focus on lessons learned and the fascinating career journey of Mark Whitacre, Executive Director, t-factor Coca-Cola Consolidated, Inc. The free virtual event will take place on Thursday, January 26 at 7pm. Click here to register.
