Sunday in-person worship and livestream
We're now welcoming up to 50 people for our 9:00 am worship service. Please arrive for service by 8:55 am. There is no pre-registration, but masks, health self-certification, and physical distancing are still required. We continue to offer the livestream on GLC's YouTube channel.
We're also celebrating communion immediately after the service in the sanctuary and also outdoors at 10:15 am, in a brief, but full communion service. And remember, you can always arrange a communion visit with Pastor Trudy or Vicar Amber.
Pastor Trudy's Sunday Message
Trust or believe? The word in Greek is pisteo, but we translate to English as either of these words— trust or believe. Just as we needed both Paul and Peter in the early church, we also need trust and believe together. Our belief and our trust will be revealed in how we live our lives, which for Paul it is all about taking barriers down—no longer slave or free, no longer Jew or Greek, no longer male or female, but one in Christ Jesus. THAT is a BOLD statement!!

God, thank You for sending people like the Apostle Paul; people who challenge us to receive the Spirit anew, who challenge us to trust You with all that we have. In the name of the One who trusted His life to You, Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

WONDERING...
Real questions from real people to learn more about faith
How did the Mother's Garden begin and why is it called a Mother's Garden?

GLC had a parish nurse for a period of time in the early 2000s. She supported Elizabeth Ministries, a ministry that served new moms and women who had suffered the loss of pregnancies.

A group of GLC members began to imagine a visible sign of hope and came up with the idea of a garden in front of the church where people could rest and be renewed.

The original plan for the garden had plants with specific meanings. While most of those plants are no longer there, the tending of many caring women over the years has helped the garden continue to proclaim new life to passersby! You'll notice the engraved bricks to mark celebrations and losses and to make proclamations of God's goodness.

A walk in the garden is a walk through a life of faith!
Mother's Garden Bricks

Commemorate a loved one or mark a celebration by ordering an engraved brick to be included in the Mother's Garden walkway. Engraved bricks are priced @ $30 each with an order deadline of June 30. This opportunity doesn't come around very often (last time we ordered was in 2018)!

Order forms and payment envelopes are available in the Narthex. Or, contact Lisa Kanzler or call 630-232-0165 to get more information and place an order.
It's graduation time!
Vicar Amber graduates THIS Sunday, May 16. The service will be held virtually and will be broadcast on the Facebook and YouTube pages for the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago. All are welcome to attend virtually!
