When you're cleaning up your garden, think of us and set aside any plants you'd like to donate to our sale. All proceeds go to new books and library supplies. We can take plants a week or two before the sale. We'll take tools and pots for resale, too.

We're also accepting books in good condition for the book sale. Please do not donate textbooks, encyclopedias, or Reader's Digest condensed sets. Thank you.

This year, we're adding something new. A yard sale! If you are interested in a table, email the library for information.

Happy Mother's Day

Meet Gorham's

School Superintendent

Thank you

We are thrilled to announce that North Gorham Public Library has received two generous grants that will enhance our commitment to the well-being of our community.

Thanks to the Davis Family Foundation, we will be able to continue offering monthly crafting events with Trish Boissevain. We will also be launching a six-week reading/nature program for first to fifth-graders as soon as school lets out. Paula Boyce is busy working out the details, which we will share soon.

Nettie Loops will return on Wednesday, June 24, at 1:00 to put on her Hula Hoop Extravaganza, and Portland Stage Company will be back on Friday, July 17, from 10:00 to noon, to present Unearth a Story - Dinosaur Tales.

We'll also paint with Hope Place and host a variety of speakers. Stay tuned.

The Jonah and Elizabeth Dyer Charitable Corporation provided funding for caregiver bags. Throughout this year, Avita of Stroudwater, a memory care facility in Westbrook, will host six presentations on dementia and related issues. Our first on April 7 was a big success. The next will be Tuesday, June 2, from 10:30 to 11:30. The topic will be Join My Journey.

We all understand how stressful caregiving can be. This grant allows us to give each new participant at the presentations a North Gorham Library bag with some soothing items tucked inside.

Thank you, Davis Family Foundation and the Jonah and Elizabeth Dyer Charitable Corporation, for believing in us and what we are trying to provide for our community.

We'll keep you updated on all of the programs. You can also contact us for information.

Avita Presentations

We had a great turnout for our first Avita presentation: Dementia 101. Alex Velez and Cally Brake, from Avita of Stroudwater, a memory care facility in Westbrook, did a fabulous job helping us understand the basics of Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia. There were plenty of questions, and Cally and Alex answered them all. They even brought lunch for everyone.

Avita will host six presentations through December. The next will be Tuesday, June 2, from 10:30 to 11:30, at the library. The topic will be Join My Journey. There is no charge. Thank you, Cally and Alex, and thank you, Avita.

A successful Open House

Thank you to the volunteers who worked hard to make our Open House a success. And thank you to everyone who stopped by to say hello and enjoy a slice of pie. The pictures are courtesy of Cynthia Fullerton, a Board Member and volunteer. Thank you for all you do.

Chirp, Chirp!

Pam Barrows, one of our most loyal library patrons and a book club member, donated some birdseed for our little birdfeeder.

We expected the usual squirrels but were delighted to discover some hungry chickadees! Thank you, Pam.
