The Emerson Center for the Arts and Culture invites Montana artists in the LGBTQ2S+ community to submit artworks for consideration for an exhibition at the Emerson to be held May 9, 2025 – June 23, 2025, in conjunction with Pride Bozeman. The show aims to showcase the artwork of queer artists currently residing in Montana. The exhibition does not have a subject matter theme but rather aims to celebrate the range of talent and abilities amongst these artists.
The exhibition will be guest curated by Richard Parrish, a renowned and queer artist working in glass and watercolor. Richard and his partner live in Bozeman. For more information about Richard, go to www.fusiostudio.com. Curatorial decisions are final.
Selected artwork(s) will be exhibited in the Weaver Room and/or in the Lobby Galleries of the Emerson.

REIGN VI STEPDOWN OUT OF TOWN SHOW

Join us as we celebrate the Reign of the Midnight Storm. This year, we expanded Bozeman Pride into a multi-organizational effort with QueerBZN, Pride House, Oh Hi Collective, and MSU QSA.
The Out of Town Show is an honored tradition in which potential candidates for the next Reign round out their campaign with stunning performances for our community. Afterward, we will open for voting on the next Count, Countex, and/or Countess, and the show will continue to celebrate our fellow courts in attendance!
This is an 18+ show.

Susie Mathre
The Botany of Math(re); Further into the Weeds, Jessie Wilber Gallery
Susie Mathre is an artist living and working in Bozeman, Montana. As the daughter of botanists, she spent many hours in the family garden and also enjoyed exploring all things mechanical. She attended the University of Oregon, where she majored in fine art, taking a variety of studio classes, including printmaking, photography, letterpress printing and fiber arts. She graduated with a BFA in Fiber Arts in 1989.
Before becoming a full-time artist, she worked for the Community Food Co-op in Bozeman for over 20 years designing and fabricating signs and creating limited edition letterpress posters. She was fortunate to acquire a Vandercook Universal 1 letterpress in the early 1990s, (and thousands of pounds of lead type) which she currently uses in conjunction with metals, encaustic wax, and plant materials.
She is a recipient of a MAGDA (Montana Art Gallery Directors Association) traveling exhibition grant, and won Awards for Excellence for Distinctive Downtown Signage (The Co-op Downtown), and Sculptured Landscape from the City of Bozeman.

Edd Enders
Montana Roots and Routes, Lobby and Weaver Room Galleries
Livingston Montana native Edd Enders was born in 1962, graduated from Park High, and studied art at Montana State University, Bozeman from 1990-1993. Growing up, he spent his free time outdoors observing nature, drawing, camping, and hunting. As a young man he worked on archeological survey teams throughout the West and as a hunting guide, packer, wrangler and cowboy from Alaska to Arizona. Enders has been painting since 1989 and has been a prolific full-time painter for two decades. Widely admired, Enders has collectors ranging from New York to Key West to Chicago to Shanghai and has shown in numerous solo and group exhibitions.
"I consider myself a contemporary western painter. I’m not interested in portraying the West as it’s commonly idealized with pristine landscapes and romanticized wildlife, cowboys and Indians. I am deeply connected to the western environment where I’ve grown up, worked, and lived. I want to portray human’s inevitable activity and impact on this region. In the bigger picture, I hope that in 100 years people will look at my paintings and learn something about this place and time, as I see it.”

Youth Interns for our Summer Art Camps
Every summer, the Emerson seeks high school-aged interns to assist with our children's summer camps. Interns assist camp instructors in daily preparation, teaching art activities, and assist young campers in achieving their creative vision. This is a fantastic opportunity to build leadership skills and experience. All interns are required to attend training in advance of camp. A weekly stipend is included, must be 13 years of age at the time of application.

Art Education Instructors
Bozeman’s creative needs are growing and we want to grow with them! We are looking for knowledgeable artists/instructors who want to share their skills to join us as at the Emerson. For 2-6 hours/week, we offer competitive hourly pay (DOE) and fully equipped classrooms located in the Emerson building. Each class session is 4-6 weeks.

We have a beautiful space available in Galleria Hall! This is a retail/gallery/studio rental with only the very best neighbors including Artists' Gallery, Rod Zullo Gallery, The Coin Laundry Prints, and Verge Theater. The space is 404 square feet featuring exposed brick, a sink, built-in storage, and great lighting. It's a fun place to be, located in a historic building in Downtown Bozeman!

We’re currently accepting donations! If you have original (not mass-produced) art—paintings, drawings, photos, ceramics, sculptures, and more—that you’re ready to part with, consider donating to this special event. Help us fill the ballroom with unique pieces, and support the Emerson in the process!
Art donations accepted Monday-Friday 9am-5pm in the Curator's office, across from the Jessie Wilber gallery on the Emerson's main floor, or the front office.
