JYM Weekly News Oct. 17th - Oct. 24th
ALL EVENTS in October & November are at Almaden Hills UMC on 1200 Blossom Hill Road unless otherwise stated
(near Pioneer high school and Whole Foods/Costco area)

Sunday night it was so good to do youth group together as a family. Lisa, myself, and our volunteers love being a part of your kids' lives, but we know the biggest influence in their world is you! Their parents! So it's great to have you be a part of their youth group setting every once in a while. A big thank you to the pastor of Cambrian Park, Rev. Amy Beth Durward for leading our topic on Tuesday about death, Dia De Los Muertos, and living without fear. Keep reading to see all we have going on in the next few weeks...

Please click below and sign up to serve in one of those capacities!

JYM Serve-A-Thon
SATURDAY Nov. 2nd
@ 3:30pm - Sunday Nov. 3rd. 8:30am

It is time for our annual fall fundraiser!! The Joint Youth Ministry would not be able to do half the programming we do if it were not for our two fundraisers, one in the fall and one in the spring.

Typically, our fall fundraiser has been a walk-a-thon, but this year we wanted to do something different!

The general premise is the same, students will begin to collect pledges and donations from family, friends, neighbors, church members, and strangers all month long. Pledge forms are available online and at youth group.

However, instead of turning in forms and participating in a walk-a-thon around campus, we will instead be participating in a Serve-A-Thon! You can count the hours serving with us as community service for school.

But wait... it gets better. This event will be a LOCK-IN! After we announce our grand totals, we will do dinner together and any students who want to spend the night can stay for our lock-in We will watch a movie and just chill after our busy day.

We are so excited about these fun changes - and hope that you will all help us reach our fundraising goals this year!

Beside keeping our program functioning, we have some incentives for students to raise funds. The different prizes are:

Young adults who have grown up in the church and/or Joint Youth Ministry - we are beginning to dream and plan what it would look like to start a brand new ministry in San Jose, built specifically for you! We would like to invite you to come and meet with Susan Smith (Childrens and family pastor of WGUMC), Lisa, and Kat to catch up a little and to tell us about what you might want/envision/need from a church or faith community at this point in your lives.

We are hosting two gatherings at the Woodhaven Retreat Center on the Willow Glen UMC campus (1420 Newport Avenue).  Please join us either Sunday, October 20 from 2-4pm or Monday, October 21 from 7-9pm.  We'll have food to share while we imagine a new ministry for you and your friends that your churches hope to make happen in 2020.
