Hello Stephane,

I hope this newsletter finds you thriving and embracing the vibrant energy of spring.

It’s been some time since my last update, and much has evolved. Below are some key highlights:

Retirement from Psychotherapy: As of May 31, 2025, I will no longer provide ongoing psychotherapy services. My two remaining psychodynamic groups will continue under the leadership of Alexandra Peterson and Dr. Kanwal Kukreja, respectively.

Limited spots are available in Alexandra’s group; please get in touch with her directly for details.

Focus on Mindfulness Teaching: Moving forward, I will dedicate my practice exclusively to mindfulness therapy and education, including OHIP-covered MBSRX programs, the Mindsight Intensive program, which OHIP does not cover, and more to come with time.

I accept referrals from family physicians on an ongoing basis for OHIP-covered consultations for new patients interested in joining an MBSRX program.

MBSRX program additions:

During the program, each participant is given the opportunity to attend one or two individual, OHIP-covered check-in sessions with me.

Participants may also book an additional, OHIP-covered post-program follow-up session with me, if desired.‍

Open-Door Policy: I maintain an open-door policy for all current and former patients and students, whether I have seen them individually in a consultation or psychotherapy, in a meditation program, or a psychotherapy group. If you need guidance or support, please don't hesitate to book an OHIP-covered, one-time individual appointment. Simply send an email, and Reena will advise whether a new doctor’s referral is required.

Discontinuation of Weekly Mindfulness Drop-In: This year, I launched a pilot project of a weekly Zoom mindfulness drop-in group session on Fridays from 12:30 to 2:00 p.m., designed to provide a group forum for participants to explore mindfulness-related questions and learn from each other. The idea does not seem popular, as on average, only one or two participants attended each time, resulting in individual sessions. Given that my open-door policy accommodates such individually personalized support, I will discontinue this initiative effective May 31, 2025. Although a different time slot might increase attendance, my current schedule does not permit additional options.

I look forward to continuing to participate in your mindfulness journey.

With kind regards,

Dr. S. Treyvaud

Being naive about

our mind's complexities

is not a good idea!

The fall may seem far away, but programs fill quickly, and the application process takes time and is now in full swing. So if you are interested, start now!

In this 11-week beginner's mindfulness program that includes 1 retreat day, participants are immersed in the exploration of the mind, focusing on the clinical implications of mindfulness meditation. Step-by-step, participants are introduced to the foundations of mindfulness meditation and its scientific underpinnings. A commitment of approximately 1 hour of daily practice as prescribed in the weekly homework is a precondition for successfully starting a transformative healing journey towards well-being.

Underestimating the mind's potential because of a lack of information, knowledge and mind training is an unfortunate, if not tragic state of mind.

Mindsight Intensive

30 Mondays 6:30-8:30 pm,

October 20, 2025 - June 8, 2026

Cost: $ 1950.00

Led online via Zoom by Dr. Stéphane Treyvaud

If interested, all you have to do is send us an email expressing your wish to join the program in the fall.

In this thirty-week (60-hour) program participants are immersed in the exploration of mind, reality, and truth. Beginning with a detailed review of the basic meditation techniques, this program takes participants on a sweeping journey through trauma-informed resourcing, polyvagal and deep brain regulation, the limits of the field of consciousness, the radical transformative power of the field of nothingness, all the way to the equanimous wisdom of the field of emptiness. My blog on the seamless mind describes in more detail the nature of this sweeping journey.

Ensuring success for beginner meditators

Ignored, reviled, rejected - just because we are blind without knowing it!

WHAT IS IT LIKE TO BE A FLY?

I am drawing upon an instance from my everyday life to illuminate for my students how mindfulness practice in general, and the Mindsight Intensive curriculum in particular — which traces the trajectory of human existence through being and nihility towards absolute nothingness and emptiness — invites us to expand awareness in a very practical way as real, lived reality. ...

Wake up to the reality that we are more zombie-like than we imagine!

AUTOMATICITY OF THE HUMAN MIND

Every novice meditator must understand the mind’s inherent automaticity, forged over eons of evolution to secure survival. The brain, the most intricate structure in the known universe, gives rise to the mind, whose elaborate workings unfold as the most profound phenomenon we can encounter. This complexity reveals our vast potential for self-deception, emphasizing the urgent need to avoid harmful habits early in practice. Cultivating a precise and resilient technical foundation is vital for navigating the mind’s labyrinthine depths.  ...

From across many imaginative aisles:

Impermanence!

Entropy!

A CASE OF CONSILIENCE

Consilience refers to the unity of knowledge achieved by connecting different fields such as natural sciences, social sciences, and the arts, allowing humans to perceive the world as a seamless web of cause and effect.

Let's have a bit of impermanence fun with a consilient look across disciplines, all the way to magic. Penn and Teller are among the magician greats, and they seem to - at least intuitively - know something about impermanence, nihility, nothingness, and emptiness. Enjoy!
