Together, We Can Do It

Thomas Rayner, retired Anthem executive, former board member of the Virginia Association of Free and Charitable Clinics, and dedicated advocate and cyclist embarked on a cross-country journey to raise money for Multiple Sclerosis (Bike the US for MS Trans America Ride). He and 30 other cyclists began their two-month journey in Yorktown en route to San Diego.

Their ride through Virginia brought him by several free clinics and he has partnered with VAFCC on a collaborative effort to highlight the vital role Virginia’s free and charitable clinics play in the healthcare safety network. The very cool part: he chose St. James the Less Free Clinic as one of his pit stops and photo opportunity on Monday, June 15th!

We are blessed to have the Free Clinic as part of our rich fabric here at St. James the Less. We celebrate this awesome event and are grateful for the volunteers who make our community stronger and healthier.

Reduced Office Hours Next Week

Kasey will be out of the office June 22-29, and office hours will be reduced. The office will be open Wednesday, 6/24, following the 7:30 am service of Holy Eucharist. If you have an emergency, please leave a message on the church phone, 804-798-6336 and we will get back with you shortly. If you need to connect with Rev. Ohmer, please use the button below.

In recognition of June 19th, Juneteenth, we offer this prayer from the Episcopal Diocese of Missouri and join with all those observing this day.

"Holy and righteous God, you created us in your image. Grant us grace to contend fearlessly against evil and to make no peace with oppression. Help us, like those of generations before us, resist the evil of slavery and human bondage in any form and any manner of oppression. Help us to use our freedoms to bring justice among people and nations everywhere, to the glory of your Holy name through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen."
