MONTHLY REVIEW | November 5, 2026 | |
Today the prophet Amos calls for justice to roll down like waters. Paul urges us to encourage one another with the promised coming of the Lord. Jesus tells the parable of the wise and foolish bridesmaids. Surrounded by the faithful of every time and place, we celebrate Christ’s coming in our midst in the word of life and the feast of victory—the marriage feast of the Lamb.

Almighty and everlasting God, whose providence guides your people in diligent service, bless the officers and enlisted women and men of the Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, Coast Guard and Space Force as they perform the duties of their calling. Give them not only true love of country but also love of you and an understanding of your love for all people; so that, relying upon your guidance, they may courageously defend our nation from every foe, promote justice, honor, and unity among our people, and be a means of fostering mutual respect and understanding among all peoples of the world; through Jesus Christ, your Son and our Lord. Amen.
Blessings +

Almighty and ever-living God, we give you thanks for the men and women who have served and defended our country and the values of freedom and justice we hold so dear. Help us be mindful of the sacrifices they made and the hardship endured by their families and friends, so that we never take for granted the privileges they have secured for us. Hear us, we pray, through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. Amen.

November President's Message
Valeria Head
Coming into the home stretch is how it feels when we get past Halloween. It seems like the last two months of the year fly by and before you know it we are saying Happy New Year! November is actually a favorite time of the year for me. I really enjoy focusing on Thanksgiving and all that goes with it before we get caught up in the rush of December. It’s a time to look for the positive and focus on being grateful for our blessings. It’s not always apparent but there is always something to be found. For instance - by the time this is published, the election will (hopefully) be over and however it turns out there will be no more commercials, phone messages, text messages or emails overwhelming our inboxes.
We can truly be grateful that we are blessed with a wonderful church family and opportunities to serve with and for that family. On that note, a special Welcome to the newest members of our Church Family.
So, let’s take time this month to slow down and focus on the people and things we are grateful for as we Glorify God, Spread the Word and Love one Another!

Council Corner
Scott Kooy- Member-at-Large
Giving with a Cheerful Heart
"Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver." — 2 Corinthians 9:7
When I was voted onto the church council as a member-at-large, I never imagined how deeply it would touch my heart. As the advocate for our Outreach Committee, I have had the privilege of sitting in on its meetings, and I leave each one moved and grateful. Through your tithes, our church family is truly changing lives.
I think of the single mothers working so hard to provide for their children, and the young adults who have aged out of foster care with nowhere to call home. I think of students who long to play an instrument but whose families simply can't afford rentals or lessons. And I think of a paraplegic veteran who, thanks to you, experienced a white-water trip through the Grand Canyon.
Friends, you can be proud of this work. The committee carefully researches every charity, making sure your gifts aren't lost to overhead but reach the people who need them most. Your generosity is in faithful hands.
Most of all, thank you. It seems that every time the committee identifies a need, you are ready to answer. You fill summer food bags for foster kids, bring Angel Tree gifts, and open a place to stay for homeless families through Family Promise. And our committee members joyfully give their time to the Italian Dinner, whose auction and silent auction raise so much for two charities each year.
Proverbs 11:25 says, "Whoever brings blessing will be enriched, and one who waters will himself be watered." I have certainly been blessed by seeing you give with such cheerful hearts. Thank you for being that blessing to so many.

Sale begins at 9:00 and ends at 12:00 noon or when cookies sell out
Fellowship Hall
Ladies of CTK, what an amazing bunch of bakers and sellers we have at CTK. Your support for WELCA is so greatly appreciated. We certainly had a banner year in 2025 with 48 bakers, 395 dozen cookies without nuts, lots of homemade cards and other miscellaneous items for sale, as well as one of the donated quilts from our Pieces for Christ quilters. Our total sales of $3,392.50 enabled us to continue our support of our various Women’s circles at CTK thanks to the generosity of all of you. Now it’s time again. Our Cookie Sale, the only fundraiser for WELCA, is scheduled for Saturday, December 12 beginning at 9:00 a.m.
Please mark your calendar and if you can help bake cookies, please see the Sign-up sheet on the Information Table.
If you can help with the sale or for more information, please contact Sue Hallman: sue.hallman@comcast.net | 470-281-1823.

EVANGELISM
Name Tags
Did you know that we would love for you to wear your Christ the King name badge? Name tags help form first impressions with potential new members and help us to determine any visitors. Name badges communicate much more than just a name. A name badge is an invitation for friendliness. Plus, they make engaging in a friendly level much easier. Engaging in conversation with someone is easier if you can address them by name. Will you help us?

Alarm System
Many people have a code to enter Christ the King. If you are one of those people, please be diligent not only in making sure the alarm is turned off when you enter, but also that the building is empty when you go to set it.
There are several areas with different alarm codes, so just because someone is in one part of the building doesn’t mean they have unarmed ALL the building. If you believe you are the last to leave and there are other cars in the parking lot, please check! There have been several false alarms in the past month and if either Kathy Voerg or Pastor Finley do not see the message on their phones and cancel the alarm in a timely manner, the police are dispatched. While the police will usually forgive one incident per year, with more than one the church will be charged a fee. With each offense in a year, that fee goes up incrementally from $100 to $1,000.
If you have any questions or concerns about how to make sure the alarm system is armed or not, please see either Kathy or Susan in the church office. The control panels are different depending on what part of the building you are in. The staff appreciates your help and cooperation!
| | |
Calendar
The 2026 Calendar is available on the Door to the Business manager's Office in the Administrative Hallway. It is up to each team leader to ensure that events get written on the church calendar. Please remember that all fundraisers, appeals and raffles along with use of the building and/or grounds by outside entities must be approved by the Council before the office staff can include them in the bulletin or newsletter. We appreciate your understanding in following the process!
| | |
Flower Chart
Each week flowers adorn our altar area. Any weeks for which there isn’t a sponsor, flowers will not be placed on the altar. If you would like to sponsor flowers, please sign up on the chart located by the mailboxes in the administrative hallway. If you sponsor flowers, they can be left outside on the portico for you to pickup on Monday.
| | |
Scam Alert
Several members have received texts supposedly from Pastor Finley asking for money or gift cards. Neither Pastor Finley nor any staff member at Christ the King will ever ask for money via text, email or phone!
| | |
Church Phone
The Church phone (770-889-5328) is a land line. It DOES NOT receive text messages. Lately many have been trying to text the number. The office can see that a text was attempted, but we cannot read the text.
| | |
Building Use
When you use the building, even just a portion like the fellowship hall, please remember to turn the thermostat back up to 80 degrees. Running the air conditioner when no one is using the building increases our electric bill.
| |
Church Offering
Thank you to all that have continued to give. The easiest way for you to send your contribution to the church is through our online giving. It is simple and easy to use. If you are not comfortable using online services, you can simply mail your contribution to the church or drop it in the locking mailbox next to the portico.
