THE WEEK IN BRIEF | October 29, 2026 | |
All Saints celebrates the baptized people of God, living and dead, who are the body of Christ. As November heralds the dying of the landscape in many northern regions, the readings and liturgy call us to remember all who have died in Christ and whose baptism is complete. At the Lord’s table we gather with the faithful of every time and place, trusting that the promises of God will be fulfilled and that all tears will be wiped away in the new Jerusalem.
This Sunday's readings:
Worship Service: 8:30 AM In-person & Livestream
Fellowship: 9:30 AM
Scrip on sale: 9:30 AM
Discipleship: 9:45 AM

Thank you to everyone who prayerfully returned their Estimate of Giving card this past Sunday. Your faithfulness and generosity are truly appreciated as we continue our Journey in Faith together. If you have not yet returned your card, I encourage you to bring it to worship this Sunday.
This Sunday, we celebrate All Saints Sunday, giving thanks to God for the faithful witnesses who have gone before us and for all the baptized who make up the Body of Christ. During worship, we will remember those who have died during the past year and celebrate those who have been baptized, rejoicing in God's promise that nothing, not even death, can separate us from his love in Christ Jesus.
Blessings +

| | The Lutheran Liturgical Year In Color & Symbolism | | |
The White Paraments
White is the color of purity, completeness, and light reinforcing the message of joy. The color White along with Gold is used for the most festive observances in our liturgical calendar. In addition to Easter and Christmas (which have their own special parament sets) the other festive Sundays throughout the year that display the White paraments are Christ the King Sunday, All Saints Sunday, the Baptism of Our Lord Sunday, Transfiguration Sunday, and Holy Trinity Sunday.
The symbolism of our new White set is one of simplicity with a large, shimmering gold, silver and copper colored cross. The shape of this cross represents light rays of the risen, glorified Christ – “His face was like the sun shining in all its brilliance.” (Rev. 1:16) The cross is surrounded by three outer intersecting golden circles, a symbol of eternity and the Trinity and is a reoccurring theme through the parament sets.
| | |
The All Saints Sunday Banner
The theme of the All Saints Sunday banner is summed up in the scripture of Revelation 7:9-11 describing the great multitude in white robes. The banner background is made up of different textures of white squares and palm branches representing that “great multitude”. “They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands. And they cried out in a loud voice: ‘Salvation belongs to our God, who sits on the throne and to the Lamb.’” The center is a red cross reminding us that we are washed white in the blood of the Lamb. The bell tassels on both sides of the banner are from an older All Saints Sunday banner. Bells representing departed congregation members were sewn on the banner each year. When the banner was retired, the bells were saved and made into tassels.

The youth and children had a lot of fun decorating their pumpkins, playing in the fun park, jumping on the big pillow, the slides, creating big bubbles, feeding the animals, the hayride, and the corn maze. Everyone had an awesome fellowship at Warbington Farms.

ALL SAINTS' SUNDAY
Sunday November 1
Both Services
On All Saints' Sunday, November 1, we will lift up the lives of those who have died before us since last All Saints’ Sunday. We will again use a special banner with bells to celebrate the memory of each friend or family member who has departed this life to share in the eternal feast that God has prepared for all his children in Jesus Christ.
During the time of communion, congregants are invited to light a candle for those that now “rest from their labors.“ The table with candles will be located in the front on the right side of the Sanctuary as you enter.

Scam Alert
Several members have received texts and emails this week supposedly from Pastor Finley asking, "if you have a minute, I have a favor to ask." Always check the phone number and email that the request is from! The request then comes for a gift card or money. Neither Pastor Finley nor any staff member at Christ the King will ever ask for money via text or email!
