New Piano in our Sanctuary!

Thank you Diane Vaux and Clara Frederickson for championing this new instrument and for the folks who have been donating to our Piano Fund. We appreciate your financial help! There is a basket on the piano for anyone else who would like to contribute. It sounds so lovely!

Zoom and Camera help needed on October 12th while Kaiya and Beverly are out of town.

Concert help: Richard Russell concert on October 11th, 4-6pm needs someone to take tickets at the door. We also need a couple of strong hands (and backs) to set up stage for Richard and his musicians.

Please respond  info@unitypt.org of your interest. Thank you.

Saint Augustine, wrote” God is a circle whose center is everywhere and whose circumference is nowhere.” Since God is love and given the truth of Augustine’s statement, you, and I, wherever we are, always have instant access to all the love that God is.

Celebrate the Power of Prayer

Dear Unity,

So much is going on in the world. Affirmative Prayer is how we quiet the noise and tap into the divine truth within us.

Unity Village invites us to celebrate the transformative power of affirmative prayer with them during Unity World Day of Prayer in September.

Video Link: https://youtu.be/3u47NHM8Du0

This year's theme is "Be Still and Know." The affirmation....in the stillness, I awaken to divine wisdom...will help us live out this theme.

The focus of the event is the 24-hour prayer vigil. Any names or requests you send will be immediately held in continuous prayer in the Unity Prayer Ministry. Then they will be added to the prayer vigil during World Day of Prayer and will remain with Silent Unity for another 30 days after that.

Here’s how you can begin preparing for World Day of Prayer 2025 right now:

  • Consider this year’s theme, “Be Still and Know,” and how these reflection questions can be applied to your own experience.
  • Read and reflect on the guiding prayer.
  • Share any names or prayer requests to be held in continuous prayer by Silent Unity—from the time we receive them through the World Day of Prayer vigil and 30 days after.

Stay in touch and learn more at worlddayofprayer.org.

In the silence between the songs, when the song stops, you can feel something. And that something is you. There is no greater experience than the experience of one's Self. And that vibration is always within you, that vibration is you. Interfaith Vigil at Haller Fountain on Labor Day

A vigil of song and solidarity is coming to Haller Fountain on Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 1.

An act and gathering of community resilience amid ongoing and troubling national and global events, “Spirit into Action: A Vigil for Our Neighbors” is scheduled for 4 to 5 p.m. surrounding the local landmark.

The 50-member Port Townsend Women’s Chorus will perform “Give Me Your Tired, Your Poor,” a choral arrangement of Emma Lazarus’ poem “The New Colossus,” that is featured at the pedestal of the Statue of Liberty.

The group will also lead a group singalong of Woody Guthrie’s “This Land is Your Land” as part of an event planned by the Jefferson Interfaith Action Coalition.

Participants will read words of wisdom from Christian, Jewish, Buddhist, Sufi and nonsectarian spiritual leaders.

The event will commence with a time for those gathered to name feelings and reasons for lament and grief. It will conclude with a communal naming of reasons for hope in the midst of aggressive immigration enforcement, wars in Gaza and Ukraine, and impactful U.S. Supreme Court cases, among other ongoing concerns.

For more information about the vigil and JIAC, visit jeffersoninterfaithaction.org or email revseanjanssen@gmail.com

Mother Teresa was once asked, "How do you measure the success of your work?"

She thought about the question and gave her interviewer a puzzled look, and said, "I don't remember that the Lord ever spoke of success. He spoke only of faithfulness in love. This is the only success that really counts."

The Wall That Heals

Dear Unity Port Townsend,

I am writing to let you know about a unique opportunity in September to honor Vietnam Veterans and reflect on the many ways the Vietnam War affected our nation.

The Wall That Heals is a replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, DC. It will be on display at Jefferson County International Airport from September 11 to 14, 2025. This will be the only site in Western Washington. More information and a schedule of events can be found at https://ptal26.org/the-wall-that-heals/.

The exhibit travels across the country to honor the more than 3 million Americans who served in the Vietnam War. The Wall bears the names of the 58,281 men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice, including many from Washington State. A mobile Education Center accompanies The Wall to tell the history and stories of the Vietnam War.

There are several ways to engage with The Wall That Heals

Spread the word: Share information about The Wall That Heals through your newsletter, events calendar, listserv, mailing list, or other avenues.

Schedule a guided tour: The Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund staff who accompany the exhibit are trained to engage visitors of all ages and backgrounds. Guided tours last approximately 45 minutes. If you are interested in scheduling a tour, please contact me at bridget.b.kelly@gmail.com or 919.949.0849.

Visit any time: The Wall That Heals is free to visit and will be open to the public 24 hours a day from Thursday, September 11 until closing at 1:45 P.M. on Sunday, September 14.

Volunteer: Hosting The Wall is a community effort, and we have a number of roles for which we are seeking volunteers. Click here for more information and to sign up.

Engage with resources online: Even if a visit to The Wall That Heals is not possible, we encourage use of the resources at https://www.vvmf.org/education/.

Sincerely,

Bridget B. Kelly
