There was recently an email being sent to our mailing list from a UNITY person which was a SCAM.

The holidays bring joy—and unfortunately, increased fraud activity. Scammers exploit the season's busy shopping, charitable giving, and money transfers.

Never give your password, account number, verification codes or Social Security number. Never send or transfer money to an account you do not own. If something feels off, pause and contact us directly.

Watch Out for These Holiday Scams

  •  Fake Charity Appeals
  • Fraudsters create fake charities or impersonate real ones, especially during year-end giving season. Always verify charities through sites like Charity Navigator or GuideStar before donating.
  •  Online Shopping Traps
  • Too-good-to-be-true deals on social media, fake websites, and fraudulent sellers spike during the holidays. Shop only from retailers you know and trust.
  •  Gift Card Requests
  • Scammers impersonate family members, bosses, or government officials claiming emergencies and requesting gift cards. No legitimate organization or family member will demand payment via gift card.
  •  Fake Shipping Notifications
  • Fraudulent texts and emails about package delays or delivery issues contain links designed to steal your information. Always track packages directly on official carrier websites.

Seven Tips to Help Protect Your Account

  1. Hang up on suspicious calls
  2. Never share personal or account information with unsolicited callers—even if they claim to be from your bank.
  3. Watch out for phishing emails
  4. Be cautious of emails that ask you to click links, download attachments, or provide personal info. When in doubt, delete it.
  5. Always verify payment requests
  6. Confirm any payment instructions or changes in payment methods by calling the person or business directly.
  7. Don't click unfamiliar links or attachments
  8. Malicious links can install malware and compromise your sensitive information. Only click if you fully trust the source.
  9. Use Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)
  10. Add an extra layer of protection to your online accounts by enabling MFA and turning on account alerts when available.
  11. Update your passwords regularly
  12. Create strong, unique passwords—and change them immediately if you suspect unauthorized access.
  13. Start small when sending money
  14. Before transferring a large amount through services like Zelle® or Venmo, send a small test amount first to confirm everything is correct.

Holiday Bonus Tip:

Use credit cards for online shopping when possible—they offer better fraud protection than debit cards. Check your statements weekly during the holiday season to catch unauthorized charges quickly.

Safe Holiday Giving and Shopping Checklist

✓ Verify charities before donating at charitynavigator.org

✓ Shop directly on retailer websites, not through social media ads

✓ Never pay for anything with gift cards or wire transfers

✓ Track packages only on official carrier websites (USPS.com, UPS.com, FedEx.com)

✓ Be skeptical of "limited time" deals that pressure immediate action

✓ Monitor your accounts closely through January for unusual activity

Sound and Vocal Session

Hello all,

This Wednesday, Jan 14 from 4 to 5 pm, I will be hosting an hour of sound and connection. Checking in, humming, toning maybe a song or call and response. And the thing I'm most excited about is to create our own sound circle and prayer. Using rattles, some percussion and other things, along with our voices, we will use mantras, spontaneous sounds and words to come together sonically. This is really what my goal is with this group: Create spontaneous sound, feel good!! Not to mention our nervous system, joy and all of the pleasure!

We meet at Unity in the Hearth Room.

In the silence between the songs, when the song stops, you can feel something. And that something is you. There is no greater experience than the experience of one's Self. And that vibration is always within you, that vibration is you. That's the beauty of any chant experience-with little or no effort we can experience and enjoy the vibrations of peace, energy, healing, and inspiration that are always within us."  Kamini Natarajan

The Law of Attraction

Presented by George Hastings

The New Age movement had its beginning in the 19th century. However, it was based on beliefs that go back to the Bronze Age, including the belief that God is everywhere, even within each one of us. This would make us all divine aspects of God, despite our faults. According to the Law of Attraction, by focusing our consciousness on such things as good health or money we could attract these to us. This presentation will examine the validity of these claims, how to use this law, examples of problems associated with it, its connection to noetics, and several examples of its successful use. It will also compare modern usage of it with that of ancient times. Today, as humanity is going through a major transition into higher consciousness, the law of attraction has a new role with new potentials and these will be emphasized.
