Interfaith Vigil at Haller Fountain on Labor Day

A vigil of song and solidarity is coming to Haller Fountain on Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 1.

An act and gathering of community resilience amid ongoing and troubling national and global events, “Spirit into Action: A Vigil for Our Neighbors” is scheduled for 4 to 5 p.m. surrounding the local landmark.

The 50-member Port Townsend Women’s Chorus will perform “Give Me Your Tired, Your Poor,” a choral arrangement of Emma Lazarus’ poem “The New Colossus,” that is featured at the pedestal of the Statue of Liberty.

The group will also lead a group singalong of Woody Guthrie’s “This Land is Your Land” as part of an event planned by the Jefferson Interfaith Action Coalition.

Participants will read words of wisdom from Christian, Jewish, Buddhist, Sufi and nonsectarian spiritual leaders.

The event will commence with a time for those gathered to name feelings and reasons for lament and grief. It will conclude with a communal naming of reasons for hope in the midst of aggressive immigration enforcement, wars in Gaza and Ukraine, and impactful U.S. Supreme Court cases, among other ongoing concerns.

Celebrate the Power of Prayer

Dear Unity,

So much is going on in the world. Affirmative Prayer is how we quiet the noise and tap into the divine truth within us.

Unity Village invites us to celebrate the transformative power of affirmative prayer with them during Unity World Day of Prayer in September.

Video Link: https://youtu.be/3u47NHM8Du0

This year's theme is "Be Still and Know." The affirmation....in the stillness, I awaken to divine wisdom...will help us live out this theme.

The focus of the event is the 24-hour prayer vigil. Any names or requests you send will be immediately held in continuous prayer in the Unity Prayer Ministry. Then they will be added to the prayer vigil during World Day of Prayer and will remain with Silent Unity for another 30 days after that.

Here’s how you can begin preparing for World Day of Prayer 2025 right now:

  • Consider this year’s theme, “Be Still and Know,” and how these reflection questions can be applied to your own experience.
  • Read and reflect on the guiding prayer.
  • Share any names or prayer requests to be held in continuous prayer by Silent Unity—from the time we receive them through the World Day of Prayer vigil and 30 days after.

Stay in touch and learn more at worlddayofprayer.org.

UNITY HAS BEEN HACKED AGAIN

On Saturday, many people received STRANGE EMAILS seemingly from Rev. Pam requesting a personal contact because she needed help confidentially along with an email requesting the purchase of Target gift cards to provide for needy hospitalized children. This is a SCAM . . . and one that really upsets me because it counts on how we unite to help one another and others here at Unity.

THESE AREN’T FROM REV. PAM! I would never ask you to purchase any kind of gift cards and then provide me the numbers. The email address that they are using isn’t even one that any of us use at Unity so that another clear marker it’s a fraud.

PLEASE report this as Scam if you know how to do that and immediately DELETE the fraudulent email. DO NOT RESPOND TO IT. This could be a reactivation by our prior hackers or could be someone new . . . just know that they are NOT from Unity.

It was a bit overwhelming, but THANK YOU so much to all of you who notified me of the issue via phone calls to Unity, my home and cell phone as well as via texts and emails to me. I didn’t have time to call/email everyone back but know I appreciate your concern and alerts!

We’re doing all we can to prevent this from happening again, and will see what further measures we need to take. We’ll contact our wonderful computer expert Mike Brittain and get his assistance with this.

Send prayers that we’ll all be protected in this wild world of the internet.

Many Blessings Always, Rev. Pam

In the silence between the songs, when the song stops, you can feel something. And that something is you. There is no greater experience than the experience of one's Self. And that vibration is always within you, that vibration is you.
