International Restoration Institute Partnership
ACHP is proud to announce a new partnership with the International Restoration Institute. IRI
is dedicated to educating, training and assisting contractors and handyman professional on helping victims of storms, fires, mold and floods. IRI's Restoration and Remediation Certification Courses have been used in the restoration industry for over 10 years. The Restoration courses offered are all online and there are free student advisement offerings at no charge. Check out the courses at

. All courses take approxmately 30 to 40 Hours to complete.

Insurance Updates
Lockton has added an easy "pay my bill" link for easy insurance policy renewals. "Participants of our insurance program will still receive their yearly invoices however, we made it easier for members to renew their insurance policy invoices online" says Asst VP, Joe Perkins of Lockton.

Free or Low Cost Ways to Market Your Handyman Business
Looking for ways to market and promote your handyman business that are free or at least affordable? The best marketing toolbox has a combination of the tried-and-true and new best practices to make you stand out from competitors. When you communicate with your prospective customers, always highlight your mission, vision, values, and services to lead your handyman business to great success.
Here are four easy ways to market your handyman business that won't cost you big bucks:
In-person networking.
Nothing beats meeting and talking to people face-to-face - it's the most effective form of communication. Email and other methods of online communication are not a substitute for meeting in person, but instead act as a bridge. While those tools are great ways to make connections, sometimes it's best to take the initiative to get together to talk.
Volunteer.
Schools, non-profit organizations, and community organizations all need friendly and capable people to help out regularly. Volunteering is a great way to show leadership and get you and your business noticed for all the right reasons. Find some local events such as a charity 5K run or walk and figure out how you can get involved and get your face and name out into the community.
Offer free workshops.
Hold a free workshop to show people who you really are and what you do. This gives your guests a chance to see firsthand how your handyman services can benefit them. Create brief informational sessions that focus on two or less topics. Search for a free local or online meeting place and promote the workshop through your social platforms and email marketing avenues.
Send permission-based email marketing.
Email marketing through professional services such as Constant Contact or IConnect are marketing tools that are very low cost in comparison to your potential return on investment. Organize your existing database of customers and use email marketing to communicate with contacts directly. These services have tutorials and learning centers to help you navigate through them.
Focus on authenticity and work diligently to build your credibility and spread the awareness of your handyman business. Market your business in a way that is purposeful so you can build countless relationships and increase sales.

Are your Customers Able to Find You?

Our search requests continue to increase significantly. The new search engine installed in August was indeed what the doctor ordered. This means more and more folks are browsing our directory listings. However, many of you have not updated your listing in a while. In some cases, customers are having difficulties reaching you because of outdated information in your listing. How do we know this? Some of them are calling ACHP. Makes us wonder how many customers are reluctant to go the extra mile thus contacting someone else with a working or displayed phone number, etc.
To fix this problem:
Log in to your member account and:
- Ensure you have access, if not contact us immediately.
- Click on "My Directory Listings" then "Edit". Ensure your information is up to date.
- Enter a city, state, zip code in the display map. If not, the search engine will not be able to find you by zip code search.

Ensure your email and phone number is correct, etc. Add more unique keywords.
