Choice's new podcast Patron Driven, is perfect for summer listening!

The new podcast from Choice features a multi-episode narrative format that combines interviews and story-telling to spotlight the breakthrough programs, hard-won advocacy, community connections—and the personalities behind them—that are being achieved in academic libraries all across the academe. This series is borne out of crowd-sourced ideas. We’ve purposefully sought out stories from librarians that showcase the strength, vitality, and creativity of not just their libraries, but of themselves.

The first series of Patron Driven is called “The Heart of the Campus” and it tells the story of the destruction and subsequent rebuilding of the Lonestar College-Kingwood campus library in Kingwood, Texas during and after Hurricane Harvey in 2017. The story follows the library staff through the hurricane’s slow windup and stall over Houston, details the flooding, and informs listeners about what it takes to build something extraordinary out
of the wreckage. Along the way, the library staff go from being colleagues to survivors to dreamers to family. It’s an epic journey
covering more than two years, and it’s not over yet!

We hope you'll find some time this summer to check out Patron Driven . Available where you access your podcasts, or find it here.
