The days of summer are quickly coming to a close but don't worry, books are here year round and so are our booksellers eager to share what we're reading with you
From the #1 bestselling author of Too Much and Never Enough: A diagnosis of America's national trauma, and a way to heal.
The Reckoning: Our Nation's Trauma and Finding a Way to Heal
The Reckoning will examine America’s national trauma, rooted in our history but dramatically exacerbated by the impact of current events and the Trump administration’s corrupt and immoral policies. Our failure to acknowledge this trauma, let alone root it out, has allowed it to metastasize. Whether it manifests itself in rising levels of rage and hatred, or hopelessness and apathy, the stress of living in a country we no longer recognize has affected all of us. America is suffering from PTSD—a new leader alone cannot fix us.

An enormous amount of healing must be done to rebuild our faith in leadership, and our hope for this nation. It starts with The Reckoning.
Night Music: A Novel
By Jojo Moyes

Isabel Delancey, a classical violinist, has always taken her comfortable life for granted. But when her husband dies suddenly, leaving her with a mountain of debt, she and her two children are forced to abandon their home and move to the Spanish House, a now-dilapidated manor Isabel inherited in the English countryside.
With the house falling down around them, and the last of her savings disappearing fast, Isabel turns to her neighbors for help, not knowing that her mere presence there has stirred up long-standing obsessions.
As she fights to make her house a home, passions and lives collide. Isabel will discover an instinct for survival she never knew she had— and that a heart can play a new song. . . .
Velvet Was the Night by Sylvia Morena-Garcia

"Mexico City is seething with student unrest and police crackdowns, but Maite has more important things to worry about. Her dead-end job and meddling family send her into the pages of romance comic books for relief. When Maite becomes entangled in a search for missing film that could upend the city’s most powerful institutions, however, her daydreams become all too real. Morena-Garcia’s sunbleached south-of-the-border noir is a delicious stew of love and violence, a frothy page-turner for fans of romance and crime alike." -David Enyeart (Manager)
All In: An Autobiography

In this spirited account, Billie Jean King details her life's journey to find her true self. She recounts her groundbreaking tennis career—six years as the top-ranked woman in the world, twenty Wimbledon championships, thirty-nine grand-slam titles, and her watershed defeat of Bobby Riggs in the famous "Battle of the Sexes." She poignantly recalls the cultural backdrop of those years and the profound impact on her worldview from the women's movement, the assassinations and anti-war protests of the 1960s, the civil rights movement, and, eventually, the LGBTQ+ rights movement.

A surreal, devastating story of a homeless ghost who haunts one of Tokyo's busiest train stations.

But his life story is also marked by bad luck, and now, in death, he is unable to rest, doomed to haunt the park near Ueno Station in Tokyo.

Outside the Margins: A Speculative Fiction Book Club discusses Axiom's End, by Lindsay Ellis
-Tuesday, September 7, 2021 - 6:00pm to 7:00pm

It’s fall 2007. A well-timed leak has revealed that the US government might have engaged in first contact. Cora Sabino is doing everything she can to avoid the whole mess, since the force driving the controversy is her whistleblower father.

Even though Cora hasn’t spoken to him in years, his celebrity has caught the attention of the press, the Internet, the paparazzi, and the government—and with him in hiding, that attention is on her. She neither knows nor cares whether her father’s leaks are a hoax, and wants nothing to do with him—until she learns just how deeply entrenched her family is in the cover-up, and that an extraterrestrial presence has been on Earth for decades.
