Thirty-nine community organizations receive more than $6.8 million in grants from the Point32Health Foundation

The Foundation today announced 39 grants totaling $6,845,000. The grants will support community organizations in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Rhode Island.

These investments support coalitions and organizations that improve conditions for older adults and help build thriving communities for all ages. The organizations are collaborative, have deep community relationships and authentically engage in actions for healthier outcomes.

Point32Health recognized as one of the most community-minded organizations in the country

Point32Health was named to Points of Light’s The Civic 50, a list of the country’s top socially responsible organizations, for the fifth time.

The Civic 50 is the national standard for corporate citizenship and showcases how leading companies are moving social impact and community into their practices, values and core business.

In 2024, Point32Health and the Point32Health Foundation gave nearly $14 million in grants, matching gifts, sponsorships, volunteer time, in-kind and other contributions to support nonprofit organizations in local communities. Colleagues volunteered 13,215 hours, valued by Independent Sector at more than $525,000.

GRANTEE STORIES

Organizations come together to share age-friendly strategies

Last month, Health Resources in Action convened a regional meeting of stakeholders, organizations and funders who support older adults in central and western Mass. Representatives from LifePath, OutstandingLIFE, Massachusetts Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired were among attendees.

Collaborators in this work came together to network, share perspectives and discuss a movement-building framework - a tool to clarify values, identify roles and support organizations as they respond to crises and advance causes.

Smithsonian highlights best practices from Rhode Island

The Smithsonian Museum is highlighting LISC and the Pawtucket Central Falls HEZ at the David J. Sencer CDC Museum in Atlanta as part of the museum's review of best practices across the nation. LISC's Participatory Budgeting program, portraits of new homeowners supported by the Housing Task Force and a decommissioned voting booth donated from the RI Secretary of State are featured in the exhibit.

The museum is focused on sharing stories about organizations that ensure every person has opportunities to achieve the best possible health outcomes. The exhibit will be available for tours through August 1 and is also available online.

Maine nonprofits come together to share resources and space

To amplify efficiency and impact, a group of nonprofits in Maine developed a creative solution to advance their missions together.  Maine Women's Lobby, Hardy Girls Healthy Women, SAFE Maine and Maine Association for the Education of Young Children are sharing office space and operations functions while maintaining their own unique Boards, brands and identities.

The operating model allows the organizations to increase capacity, promote sustainability and invest in cross-functional staff with living wages and competitive benefits.

Wellspring Awards honor communities making a lasting impact for older adults

The Connecticut Age Well Collaborative celebrated the 2025 Wellspring awards this month. The Wellspring Awards honor Connecticut-specific, community-based projects, initiatives and policies implemented within the past five years with ongoing, meaningful and relevant community impact.

The towns of Wethersfield, West Hartford and Newtown were honored for their work advancing healthy aging. Each town has hosted a Daring Dialogue, and West Hartford and Newtown have created their own Community Leaders Fellowship programs.

Caregiving workgroup establishes network and resources in New Hampshire

New Hampshire Alliance for Healthy Aging coordinates a Caregiving Workgroup to support family caregivers in the Granite state. The goal of the group is to increase self-identification of caregivers, promote workplace policies that accommodate caregivers, and raise awareness of resources available.

The workgroup is developing outreach plans, collaborating with service organizations and hosting educational events for employers and the general public. The group's new one-pager outlines the landscape of caregiving in the state, including challenges caregivers face and actionable solutions to better support those helping loved ones age with dignity. In a state of 1.4 million people, more than 168,000 caregivers in New Hampshire provide unpaid services valued at $2.8 billion.

RESOURCES

Dashboard for exploring health in your city

The City Health Dashboard created by the NYU Grossman School of Medicine's Department of Population Health with support from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, provides an array of regularly updated data specific to neighborhood and/or city boundaries. The tool has compiled data like life expectancy, park access and children in poverty to improve the health and well-being of everyone in the community.

Use the tool to find key data indicators that can inform your work.

Resources for managing communications in a crisis

The Bridgespan group has compiled resources to help organizations respond to changing environments and emerging needs through communications.

These tools, stories and frameworks can help you prepare for multiple scenarios and make decisions in the face of uncertainty.

CORPORATE CITIZENSHIP UPDATES

Colleagues meet the moment during Volunteer Week

More than 1,300 colleagues volunteered 3,200+ hours at 75+ projects in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Rhode Island during this year's Volunteer Week.

Colleagues volunteered at community organizations working to improve food security, support people experiencing homelessness, improve parks and public spaces, reduce social isolation, and address other social determinants of health.

Colleagues honor Mental Health Awareness Month

Last month, Point32Health colleagues, friends and family members (and even some furry friends) raised awareness and funds for the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Massachusetts Chapter.

Through the NAMIWalks Mass event in Boston, a 3v3 basketball tournament in Canton and individual efforts, more than 50 colleagues supported the cause.  Donations made to the NAMIWalks Massachusetts team through Friday, July 18 will be matched by the Foundation.
