Kent School District January 2021
Celebrating Our Mentors
During National Mentoring Month this year, we are especially grateful for the volunteers and mentors who continue to go above and beyond during the COVID-19 pandemic to help successfully prepare all students for their futures!

More than 40 Communities in Schools of Kent mentors like Phillip Delapena (pictured above during a pre-pandemic Kent Phoenix Academy graduation celebration) have continued to help support students virtually during remote learning.
Supporting Our Students
Attendance Matters
Regular attendance is key to success in remote learning. Make sure to notify your student's school as soon as possible if they will be absent.
Equity & Inclusion Survey Results
83% of students responded strongly agree or agree their teachers care about their learning in our December 2020 Student Equity & Inclusion survey.
Keeping Our Promises
Look at that beautiful progress! Our new elementary school and academy campuses are scheduled to open in fall 2021. Thank you local voters for your support!
School Board to Vote on Boundary Study Proposed Changes
The School Board will vote on moving forward with proposed boundary changes during the January 27 board meeting.
Return to In-Person Learning Update
Families were invited to provide their input via a return to in-person learning preference survey by Tuesday, January 26 to help us plan for hybrid learning. Results will be shared in the coming days.

Thank You School Board!
January is School Board Appreciation Month. Our current school board reviewed applications for the vacant board position representing District 1 during a January 21 executive session. They will conduct public interviews and selection during a special meeting in February.
