Updates to Proposed Boundaries for the 2023-2024 School Year

Since the October 19, 2022, board work session where the Boundary and Educational Program recommendations were shared, the Boundary Change Review Committee hosted two of its four scheduled listening sessions. After looking deeper at the data and input from parents, families, and staff, the boundary change and educational program recommendations are being adjusted.

New Middle School Model Coming in 2023-2024

On October 12, 2022, the Kent School District Board of Directors received a recommendation from the Middle School Model Committee comprised of parents, staff, and community members for a sixth, seventh, and eighth grade middle school model. The school board approved this resolution, and the district will move forward with implementation to begin the next school year.

Native American Heritage Month is celebrated in KSD throughout November. Learn more about Native American Heritage Month and resources on Native American culture.

Secondary Conferences

Secondary Conferences will be taking place on Tuesday, November 22. All middle and high schools will be dismissed three hours early. You can view the bell schedules and dismissal times on the KSD website.

Be In The Know

Highly Capable Referral Period is Open

Students in Kindergarten and Grades 1, 3, 4, and 7 through 11 may be referred for possible HiCap services by a parent/guardian, teacher, peer, community member, or themselves between October 3 and November 30.

Free and Reduced Meal Applications

Please visit our nutrition services webpage to determine if your family qualifies and to apply. Students who are eligible can participate in optional, non-credit, extracurricular activities at no cost. Eligible families receive a Family Activity Card for parents/guardians and their elementary-age and younger children to enter KSD-sponsored events free or at a reduced rate. A Family Activity Card will be mailed to families that qualify for free and reduced-price meals. Be sure to complete an online free and reduced-price meal application to determine if your family is eligible.
