Marissa Winmill Wins Golden Apple Award

Dr. Winmill started teaching over 20 years ago and has made countless impacts on students’ education. Her mantra is “be the change that you wish to see in this world.” She has been changing our world and continues to inspire a new generation to do the same.

Boundary Review Change Committee Update

Our Boundary Review Change Committee began meeting in March of 2022, and since August 4, the Boundary Review Change Committee has met weekly. KSD is celebrating and recognizing El Mes de la Herencia Hispana, or Hispanic Heritage Month, from September 15 to October 15!

Kentlake Celebrates 25 Years of Excellence

Kentlake High School will kick off its 25th year with a celebration on Saturday, October 1 at 6:00 PM.

National Principals Month

October is National Principals Month! Join us in celebrating and thanking our fantastic school administrators, who help our staff and students be successful all year round! We'll be highlighting some of our principals and assistant principals next month!

Elementary Conferences

Elementary Conferences will be taking place during the week of October 17-21. Conference dismissal time is 3 hours early for elementary schools (Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri) and all schools will release 2 hours early on Wednesday.

LGBTQ+ History Month

October is LGBTQ+ History Month. We are KSD proud of all of our students, families, staff, and more. Join us in recognizing and observing the history and achievements of the LGBTQ+ community in KSD.

National Bullying Prevention Month

October is National Bullying Prevention Month. KSD does not tolerate bullying and this month and every month we all play a role in stopping bullying.

National School Bus Safety Week

National School Bus Safety Week is Oct 17-21 and is a week dedicated to educating our staff, students, parents, and community on school bus safety. Join us this week to keep school bus safety at the top of our minds and all school year long.

Filipino American History Month

October is Filipino American History Month! Join us in celebrating the many important contributions that our students, staff, and community who have ancestors from the Philippines have made in our community and across america.

Be In The Know

District and State Test Scores on Skyward Family Access

Parents and guardians can access student test results by visiting the Test Scores tab in Skyward Family Access. Please talk with your student's teacher during elementary conferences about this process and how you can understand your students' test scores.

Outdoor Education Returns to Kent

After a two-year hiatus Outdoor School returns to KSD for fifth and sixth graders. All elementary schools will be able to participate in this extended day experience. The first three schools (Sunrise, Kent Elementary, and Soos Creek) will be attending the first week of October at Camp Waskowitz in North Bend.

Meghin Margel Officially Becomes Member of KSD School Board

Meghin Margel was sworn in and took the oath of office to the Kent School District School Board at the Regular School Board Meeting on Wednesday, September 14. Margel represents District 2, which will be up for re-election in November 2023.

Transporting Students One Smile at a Time

Shurail K. Bletson and Ivan Liu have been school bus drivers in Kent School District for many years. They’ve made an impact on countless students’ journeys and are the first face that they see when starting their school days.

Free and Reduced Meal Applications

Please visit our nutrition services webpage to determine if your family qualifies and to apply. Students who are eligible can participate in optional, non-credit, extracurricular activities at no cost. Eligible families receive a Family Activity Card for parents/guardians and their elementary-age and younger children to enter KSD-sponsored events free or at a reduced rate. A Family Activity Card will be mailed to families that qualify for free and reduced-price meals. Be sure to complete an online free and reduced-price meal application to determine if your family is eligible.


College Financial Aid Applications Open October 1

It's college application season, and that means both the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and the Washington Application for State Financial Aid (WASFA) is open! Seniors, remember to submit your applications as soon as possible and check with the schools you are applying to, so you can know when their financial aid application priority deadlines are. Learn more on our website and visit your college and career center for assistance.
