Welcoming Students Back to School
We are preparing to safely welcome back students and staff following strict guidance from public health officials. Please check your email and our website for updates.
Prepare to Return In-Person
Elementary Students (Kindergarten-Grade 6)
We asked elementary families to complete a Learning Model Commitment Form in Skyward Family Access by Saturday, March 27 to choose between staying in remote learning or transitioning to hybrid learning for the remainder of the 2020-2021 school year.
  • If you selected the hybrid learning model for your student(s), they will return to school on Monday, April 12.
  • A wellness screener will be required to be completed each day for every student attending school in-person.
  • Elementary schools will practice physical distancing of at least three feet or more between students within groups and in classrooms as much as possible. Read more about the change to physical distancing requirements.
  • Please continue to check your email and physical mail for information the week of April 5-9, including your student's classroom assignments, transportation, pick-up, and drop-off locations, and health and safety guidelines.
Secondary Students (Grades 7-12)
Please review the hybrid and remote learning schedules and then log in to your parent/guardian Skyward Family Access account to complete the Learning Model Commitment Form by Thursday, April 1 at 11:55 p.m.
  • Before the transition to the hybrid model, all secondary students will engage in asynchronous learning (independent work) the week of April 12-16. There will be no virtual instruction. This time will be used by all secondary teachers for training, classroom setup, and to adjust instruction for teaching in-person and remote students at the same time starting April 19.
  • If you select the hybrid learning model for your student(s), they will return to school on Monday, April 19.
  • A Wellness Screener will be required to be completed each day for every student attending school in-person.
  • Students will keep the same class schedule and will likely remain with their same teacher. There may be limited instances in which teachers exchange remote learning and in-person learning rosters to support instruction.
  • Middle and high schools will practice physical distancing of at least six feet or more between students and adults, in common areas, when masks can’t be worn (such as when eating), during activities when increased exhalation occurs, such as singing, shouting, band practice, or physical education. These activities should be moved outdoors or to large, well-ventilated spaces whenever possible. Read more about the change to physical distancing requirements.
  • Please continue to check your email and physical mail for more information from KSD and your student's school, including transportation, pick-up, and drop-off locations, and health and safety guidelines.
