NEW IN THE ILLINOIS MEDICAL DISTRICT: MARCH 2019

The IMD, in partnership with IGNITE CITIES, has  announced the launch of the country's first Smart Medical District.The IMD and IGNITE CITIES will develop a connected and intelligent solution to transform transportation, connectivity and safety throughout the District. The result will enhance the quality of life for residents and visitors, while delivering scalable digital infrastructure and services.
As the country's first Smart District, the IMD will leverage its private and public partnerships, and will acquire and deploy proven global technology assets to provide digital services that trigger new public services across the District.

The Smart District will create new revenue share opportunities, sustainable urbanization, smarter infrastructure, scalable services and transform human engagement. To read more about this groundbreaking partnership, click here.

ChicagoCAC BEYOND WORDS RECEPTION
Coinciding with Child Abuse Prevention Month in April, ChicagoCAC's Community Advisory Council is hosting its annual BEYOND WORDS reception to honor survivors of child sexual abuse and display artwork created by ChicagoCAC children. Guests will enjoy artwork, spoken word poetry and an ice cream sundae bar! This free event also includes a discussion of child sexual abuse prevention and survivorship. Community members of all ages are welcome and registration is encouraged.
The event will take place on  Sunday, April 7 from 2 to 4 PM at ChicagoCAC, located at 1240 S. Damen Ave.For more information about the event, or to register, click here.
 
HARRISON SQUARE REDEVELOPMENT
Work continues on the Cook County Hospital redevelopment project, which is branded as Harrison Square. Harrison Square is a 13-acre mixed-use development that will help transform the IMD.
The project, which will feature 25,000 square feet of retail, hotel, office and residential space, is scheduled for completion in February 2020. For project updates, follow Harrison Square on Twitter, or visit their website
FOXGLOVE ALLIANCE VOLUNTEER INITIATIVE
The Foxglove Alliance and the Illinois Association of Free and Charitable Clinics (IAFCC) have  started a pilot project to try to address one of the association's continuing issues - identifying medical personnel who would be willing to volunteer at IAFCC member clinics
Launched in February of this year, the various members of the Foxglove Alliance are reaching out to their members, networks, colleagues and cohorts to get physicians, nurses and other medical professionals and students to volunteer at one of the Northern Illinois-based free and charitable clinics.
CHICAT SPRING EDUCATION PROGRAMS
IMD partners  at The Chicago Center for Arts & Technology (CHICAT) are offering FREE spring education programs to middle school and high school students. Classes include Making Digital into Reality, Poetry in Motion, Homework Help and more. 
CHICAT is focused on the power of unifying communities, the connection between art and technology and the benefits of engaging and teaching in an inspirational and beautiful environment.

CHICAT aims to uplift the North Lawndale, Little Village, and Pilsen neighborhoods while simultaneously embracing the culture and values of the communities that live there. To learn more about CHICAT's spring programs, click here
JANE BYRNE INTERCHANGE PROJECT MEETING
The Jane Byrne Interchange project team will host a construction update public meeting on March 7, 2019. The purpose of the meeting is to inform the public on completed, ongoing and future construction.  
The meeting will take place from 5 to 7 PM at the UIC Forum, located at 725 W. Roosevelt Road. There will be an audio/visual presentation and an opportunity to review exhibit materials. Attendees will also have the opportunity to speak with project team members.
