NEW IN THE ILLINOIS MEDICAL DISTRICT: NOVEMBER 2018
FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
On Tuesday, November 13, I will speak at City Club of Chicago. This will be my third appearance at City Club since I became the CEO of the IMD in September of 2015. It gives me great pride to look back on all we've accomplished in such a short time, and I'm excited to highlight our shared progress in making the IMD a premier health innovation destination.
This year's address will focus on the future of urban healthcare; specifically the intersection of healthcare and community impact.  Every day in the IMD, we're inspiring those around us to create the best opportunities possible for community members to access our resources and live their best lives, and I'm honored to help tell these stories.  I hope to see you there. HHS REGION 5 HRA PROGRAM
The U.S. Departments of the Treasury, Health and Human Services and Labor have proposed regulation that expands the usability of health reimbursement arrangements (HRAs). HRAs are designed to give working Americans and their families greater control over their healthcare by providing an additional way for employers to finance quality, affordable health insurance.
HRAs allow employers to reimburse their employees for medical expenses in a tax-favored way. An open comment period on the regulation will run through December 28, 2018. You can read more about the initiative here.
HC3 STATE OF HEALTHCARE REPORT
The Healthcare Council of Chicago (HC3) has released its second annual State of Healthcare in Chicago report. The report " reaffirms that Chicago's health care industry is robust and growing along with health care's growth nationwide, with particular strength in the provider, digital health, and life sciences sectors. Propelling the growth is an aging population with more and increasingly complex chronic conditions."
HC3  is an action-oriented collaborative that brings leaders from across the health care ecosystem together to help support business growth and solve Chicago's most important health-related issues. For a more detailed overview of the report, click here.
