Breaking News: New law allows easier access to buprenorphine
The Trump administration introduced new addiction treatment guidelines Thursday that give physicians more flexibility to prescribe a drug to patients struggling with opioid addiction.
The Department of Health and Human Services is eliminating the requirement that physicians obtain a special federal waiver in order to prescribe buprenorphine, a medication to treat opioid use disorder. Previously, doctors had to take an eight-hour course to receive the license, called the "X-waiver."

Recovery Hero: Bobby Galindo
Hello my name is Patrick “Bobby” Galindo and I have been in recovery for one year. Something that I am most proud of is the journey of discovering myself and my cause. A low moment during my substance abuse came when I was crying on my knees with a needle in my arm and praying for god to kill me. I didn’t want to live like that.

Pros and Cons of Tapering Down Alcohol Intake
If you want to quit drinking, you might want to try to taper off first, instead of stopping suddenly, to try to reduce the severity of possible alcohol withdrawal symptoms.

If you are a daily drinker, a long-time heavy drinker, or a frequent binge drinker, if you suddenly stop drinking altogether, chances are you are going to experience some form of withdrawal symptoms and if you try to quit "on your own" without any kind of medical assistance, those symptoms could become very severe.
